Mentionlytics is a software as a service (SaaS) company specializing in online brand monitoring. It offers a cloud-based web and social media monitoring platform[1] that collects and analyzes mentions[2] from various social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), YouTube, and other major social channels, as well as review websites, news sites, blogs, and forums.

The company is based in London, United Kingdom[3], and Crete, Greece[4], with an international team that serves customers all around the world.

History

The idea of the Mentionlytics platform was developed by co-founder Manos Perakakis in 2015 while he was trying to track the publicity of a press release across the web, which proved challenging.[5] He teamed up with John Kopanakis and George Mastorakis[6], both co-founders of the company, to bring the idea to life, and the company was officially founded in 2016.

The original concept was for Mentionlytics to be solely a web monitoring platform. However, due to the rise of social media and its key role in marketing and public relations, the team decided to broaden its monitoring capabilities to include social media platforms.

Launch

In 2016, the Mentionlytics platform went live[7] with key features such as social media and web monitoring, sentiment analysis, Share of Voice, and Top Keywords. That year, the company joined the Microsoft for Startups program[8] to help scale up.  Initially, the company's goal was to attract trial users to help the team build a product that fit customer needs.

Expansion

Since 2017, Mentionlytics has experienced steady growth in terms of market share in Greek and international markets[9] and revenue. In January 2024, Mentionlytics expanded its operations in Southeast Asia[10].

The platform is continuously enriched with new AI features[11], notably the Social Intelligence Advisor (SIA) launched in 2018, Mention Translate launched in 2022[12], and Emotion Analysis in 2024[13].

In January 2017, the American Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP) awarded Mentionlytics[18] the global Platinum AVA Digital Award in the Marketing, PR, Advertising, and Digital Agency category.

In March 2017, Mentionlytics received the First Award in the Papastratos Start-Up / Scale-Up Greece Awards[19] in the category of E-Business & E-Commerce and the Gold Award in the Greek WebX Awards in the Startups category[20].

In May 2017, Mentionlytics was awarded the Bronze Award in Digital Media Awards 2017 in the Best Innovative Service category.

Additionally, the Mentionlytics platform is rated 4.9/5 on G2 (as of October 2024) and received the High Performer and Best Support badges in 2023.
