Nikki Giovanni Barnett, DBA Born January 13, 1982. Being named after Yolande Cornelia "Nikki" Giovanni Jr. an American writer, commentator, activist, and educator, whom is currently a distinguished professor of English at Virginia Tech; Nikki Giovanni Amanda J. Barnett or better known as "Nik" could not see herself becoming a failure, period.

As a young adult Nik refused to move away from Ohio (Toledo). She loves Ohio and Michigan. The two states together made her into the college professor she is presently. Her family, friends and past professors from many cities in Ohio and Michigan have always shown her great admiration, love and respect. Most importantly they believed in her and knew she would do all that she dreamed. She is grateful to God to have such a strong support system. She started working at age fourteen; becoming Team Lead at The Toledo Zoological Society (Park Operations) at age fifteen. This was the beginning of her "leading by example". She reached a sophomore status in college by the time she graduated from Edward Drummond Libbey High School (post-secondary program). Nik hit the pavement running. She was determined to move up any and every corporate ladder she could find.

Nik's background begins with and transcends through the following fields of study: Medical Transcription & Insurance (Allied Health Diploma), Health Information Technology (AAS), Business & Entrepreneurial Management (AAB), Management & Organizational Development (BS), Aviation & Quality Systems (MTM Transfer), Management & Organizational Development (MSM), Business Administration (DBA)

As a Lead Program Instructor and Adjunct Faculty Member at various Ohio and Michigan Colleges and Universities, Nik is doing all she can to give back to students what so many professors have given her; knowing ones self-worth in today's society. She is dedicated to teaching students how to set "SMART" goals for themselves and have confidence in all that they do. Nik's family; mother and father Mr. & Mrs Curtis A. Barnett Jr. and her only sibling (Brother Curtis A. Barnett III RIP) are and always will be very proud of what she has achieved through sickness, good health, great moments, and negative tribulations. She dedicates all she has accomplished to them; always remembering to thank God first.

"Sky" really is Nik's limit. Current day she is known as the "Jill of All Trades".
