Councillor Nigel Simpson For Brinsworth, Catcliffe and Waverley ward in Rotherham, South Yorkshire. United Kingdom

Elected in May 2016 as Brexit candidate for the UK Independence Party But with a primary personal wish to help the community where some of my family were from. My family have now spread out around a Rotherham and the Rother valley including Brinsworth Treeton, Kimberworth, Whiston, Swallownest and Maltby. I was born in Rotherham and have over 40 years of experience from steel, through retail, DIY and online travel business because I got the travel bug from an early age - eventually becaming a teacher of business abroad... coming back to Rotherham to look after my parents who had severe Dementia and blindness respectfully. I looked after my parents mostly on my own for the best part of 3 years, whilst becoming a Councillor for around 8,000 residents.

I have really tried hard to help the community and the the 3 areas of my ward to look and feel better whilst offering many ideas for Rotherham and the Rothervalley.

As a full-time councillor I have taken part in many training courses and attended most council meetings to offer an opposition to the mundane and to bring my hard earned experience to Rotherham.

I like to say I’m not a “politician” in the worse sense of the word, as most career politicians have unfortunately got a bad reputation...

Rotherham and the great Rother valley have changed for the good there is a new CEO and some new officers to help the Rotherham MB council change but again unfortunately not enough councillors have been changed...

Because of the “deprived area” status Rotherham and the Rothervalley have received British Government funding to help form modern technology sites such as the “AMP” Avanced Manufactoring Park and the town centre is receiving Government rejuvenation grants to vastly improve the town centre.

Overall I am positive for the future of the area, especially Brinsworth as a community with easy access to Sheffield and Rotherham, along with Catcliffe, Treeton and Waverley ‘new town” AMP, and the Rotherham (Sheffield) University is the future of our town and villages - more technical jobs and local education for tomorrow, coupled with more and better housing and schools for all...

Councillor Nigel G. Simpson For all of people in Rotherham and the Rother valley.
