Harry Williams was coach for the fourth and final season.

Fullback Philip Rainey announced his retirement in May 1990, with 42 caps for Ulster and 1 for Ireland.[1]

Portadown scrum-half Andrew Matchett made his provincial debut against Spain in September.[2]

Paddy Johns made his debut for Ireland on 27 October 1990.

Brian Robinson and Gordon Hamilton made their debuts for Ireland on 2 February 1991.
