From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This a template version of the disambiguation pages of the form $(number).

It exists for the sole purpose of keeping all such pages consistent with each other and can be updated by anyone as necessary (for example, to include other important currencies—this is a wiki). It is not intended to "overrule" the versions on those pages; rather, it is intended to facilitate their maintenance.

Usage notes:

For the purposes of these disambiguation pages, currencies that are defunct, conceptual or fictional are not listed, because it is very, very, very unlikely that someone will type in "$100" with the intention of finding out about a specific note in that currency. (Generally, when you are searching for something you know is defunct, you search for the entire thing.) Also, the Kiribati dollar is not listed at all because it does not have any notes or coins in circulation at or greater than $1.

In the second list, currencies that:

  • have an article on either the banknote/coin in question or all its banknotes and/or coins, and are therefore listed in the first list
  • do not issue a banknote/coin in this denomination

are commented out. (They are not deleted to avoid future confusion and to aid maintenance.)

The columns may have to be rearranged for different pages (i.e. the column break(s) moved). There should be three columns.

This page can be substituted. The syntax is:

{{subst:User:Neonumbers/Currency|1|
2
}}

The first parameter is the number, e.g. 100. The second parameter is the list unambiguous pages. The page then needs to be saved first, and then the appropriate currencies in the second list commented out, and the column breaks rearranged if necessary.

Table of denominations issued by selected currencies

[edit]

This table is an extended version of the one at User:Chochopk/Note.

I acknowledge Chochopk for his contributions of expertise in numismatics to this. The curriences below with a blue background are the ones that I added.

C for coins, N for note, O for old or obsolete.
A&B means both are used; A→B means A was once used but has been replaced by B, Ax By means that x is issued in A and y in B.
Currencies in green italics mean that it is known that individual articles for denominations in those currencies exist (so they need to be commented out of the second list above), except for the denominations then red italics in that row.
Currencies in orange italics mean that it is known that articles exist for the coinage of that currency, and the banknotes of that currency.
