Founding
[edit]Beta Sigma Rho was founded at Cornell University in 1910.[1] The Founders are M.M. Milman, Nathaniel Koenig, Lester Krohn
Merger
[edit]Beta Sigma Rho merged into Pi Lambda Phi on December 12, 1972 adding 5 active chapters, and merging 2 chapters. The two chapters at the Pennsylvania State University would not merge, and the Beta Sigma Rho, Beta chapter became Beta Sigma Beta. In 1950 the Beta Sigma Rho ritual was changed to reflect a non-sectarian viewpoint. According to the merger "Each Honorary Fellow, Associate Fellow and Alumni Fellow of Beta Sigma Rho will become an accredited member of Pi Lambda Phi."

Conflicts
[edit]- Cornell University: The PLP chapter merged into the BSR under the Beta Sig Alpha/Pi Lam Delta designation, this chapter closed in 1976.
- Pennsylvania State University: The two chapters refused to merge. The BSR chapter still operates as a local fraternity, Beta Sigma Beta.[2]
- University of Pennsylvania : The two chapters merged as PA Epsilon Zeta.

Western Ontario University chapter of Beta Sigma Rho was not active at the time of the merger, but this chapter was revived in 1983. It closed again in 8-5-05.
