Career

[edit]

2002- Present

Gavara began his career as a script writer for an entertainment news portal, Telugu One. He later progressed as an entertainment news specialist in addition to being a script writer and program producer for C Channel (Hathaway Group), Local TV (Vyjayanti Tele Ventures), Studio N (news channel) and ABN (a well-known Telugu news channel).

His career required him to be a consistent writer and a story teller, which motivated him and gave him the expertise needed to pitch his stories to professionals within the industry. It was during this time (2006-2013) he was befriended by late actor Sri Hari who was able to foresee Gavara’s talent and introduced him to household names in the Telugu industry as a debut director in 2013.

Gavara proceeded to write and direct movies successfully since his debut with Weekend Love (2014)[2]. This is a story about a man and a woman who are opposites by nature. The male lead, Ganesh, played by actor Adith Arun, is a flirt who doesn’t believe in one true love, until he meets Sandhya, played by Supriya Shailja, who doesn’t even like the idea of dating. The movie takes the audience through an emotionally-charged journey which perfectly depicts the subtle yet powerful ways in which humans give into their feelings and transform for one another. Weekend Love (2014) surpassed 350+ Million views (collectively) on YouTube alone, making it one of the most-watched movies online directed by Nagu Gavara.

In 2018, Nagu Gavara wrote and directed Kartha Karma Kriya, a thriller crime drama based on real-life events. The story revolves around female lead, Mythri, played by Sahar Afsha, who is in search of her sister’s murderer. As Mythri looks for clues to nab the culprit who blackmailed, abused and killed her sister, she comes across a happy-go-lucky Sidhu, played by Vasanth Sameer. The nail-biting story sheds light on the misuse of social media and how women are made victims to cybercrime and sexual abuse.

Nathicharami (2022), a crime thriller, was directed by Nag Gavara. The movie was released in cinemas on 10th March 2022 and on 20 OTT platforms, including Amazon Prime Video[3]. The movie stars Poonam Kaur and Arvind Krishna in lead roles. The story revolves around a married couple who are trying to navigate their way around the Y2K rush. Planning a career abroad but failing to find the right opportunity puts the couple in a socially awkward situation, which quickly transgresses into a sinister trap for the lady of the duo. A time-tested theory on love and unshakable trust, Nathicharami was critically acclaimed for its grasp on human emotions in the midst of a personal, social, and financial crisis.
