Lazarus Aaronson
Hi NQ. You previously helped me with sources for our article on Lazarus Aaronson. An entry on him has now been published in the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography. Would you mind helping me accessing the entry? Thanks in advance. –P. S. Burton (talk) 22:01, 3 June 2015 (UTC)
- @P. S. Burton: I've emailed you the entry. Regards - NQ (talk) 22:12, 3 June 2015 (UTC)
- Got it. Thank you very much. Turns out that several dates in our current article is incorrect. Will be fixing this shortly. P. S. Burton (talk) 22:38, 3 June 2015 (UTC)
Idea Cellular
The fact that it's a major company doesn't of course, stop it from being spam. I've looked again, and I'll restore after editing the text (a list of cities where you can get their 3G seems to be there only as promotion, and the language is pov in places). I'm too tired to do it today, but I'll have a go tomorrow Jimfbleak - talk to me? 14:37, 6 June 2015 (UTC)
- @Jimfbleak: Sure. Thanks! I haven't seen the article in question, just cleaning up after the nominator who seem to be tagging pages because their article Secure Life was deleted as G11. - NQ (talk) 16:26, 6 June 2015 (UTC)
- OK, I've restored with 5k text removed or amended, see what you think. Cheers, Jimfbleak - talk to me? 05:39, 7 June 2015 (UTC)
The above article about a 1986 Hindi film is at AfD. It featured popular actors Rajesh Khanna and Dharmendra in lead roles. You have access to The Times of India. I'm sure there would have been substantial coverage in that newspaper. If you could send me 1 or 2 PDFs then I would put them to good use. The other variation of the title can be Muhabbat Ki Kasam. Regards, --Skr15081997 (talk) 05:58, 7 June 2015 (UTC)
- @Skr15081997: Mail. - NQ (talk) 09:42, 7 June 2015 (UTC)
- No problem. The article would probably be deleted but I will use the source in the actor's articles to mention the film. Thanks for your help.--Skr15081997 (talk) 10:17, 7 June 2015 (UTC)
Thanks
A special thanks to you for your efforts to keep my RFA disruption-free. It's a uniquely tricky situation, deciding on when/if to respond, and you made it easier. --NeilN talk to me 21:11, 7 June 2015 (UTC)
- More help from you! I think you should put your post back. I missed the asterisk functionality. --NeilN talk to me 14:41, 10 June 2015 (UTC)
- @NeilN: I can't seem to figure out how to look up contribs of IPv6 CIDR ranges using that tool, only using asterisk seems to work (I know zilch about networking). - NQ (talk) 14:49, 10 June 2015 (UTC)
- @NeilN: You can check contributions from an ip range for a specific time period if you use the following link format: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/ipv6*?ucstart=yyyymmddhhmmss&ucend=yyyymmddhhmmss. For example, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/2600:1014:B0*?ucstart=20150610000000&ucend=20150610160000 leads to this edit. Useful for calculating short term rangeblocks. - NQ (talk) 16:04, 10 June 2015 (UTC)
Artrieve
I saw you mention Artrieve on the Rx talk page. Would they be able to get me that 1981 San Jose Mercury article I've been looking for re: Harold Abrahams? It seems the only microfilms of the SJM prior to 1985 are in Northern California [1]. Would Artrieve cover that, if that's the case, do you think? And if so, would it cost more than $10 or $15? I haven't been able to come up with any way to get someone to get it for me beyond posting a Craigslist ad or something ... plus now on Craigslist it costs $25 just to even post a "job" listing! Softlavender (talk) 07:47, 8 June 2015 (UTC)
- @Softlavender: I did get in touch with them last year when you made the request and they were able to guarantee retrieval from the Library of Congress. In addition to the document fees(~ 90 cents per page) and the copyright fees (~6$) the base rate for the Library of Congress retrieval applies, which are $22 for 3 day economy, $27 for next-day-rush and $33 for same day rush (rates may have changed). Since I wasn't sure about the title of the article or the exact page range, I didn't go through with it then. - NQ (talk) 08:43, 8 June 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks very much for the info. The delivery rate bumps it up a bit more than I'd like to spend, especially since I'm not at all in a rush. Maybe I'll contact them and see if they can lower the fee for someone who doesn't need the item within one week or even one month. Thanks again! Softlavender (talk) 09:00, 8 June 2015 (UTC)
- Update, or Welcome to the Internet Rumor : Hey thanks for recommending Artrieve. I did spring for it, and got the SJM article. The insane thing is that it says nothing like what the cuckoo JumpCut review says, but it makes its own completely unfounded and unsubstantiated claim out of nowhere, "[Abrahams] changed his religion some years after the big race [the 1924 Olympics] and spent most of his adult years as a Christian" (untrue both in date and in fact). The online JumpCut nonsense decided to take that random out-of-left-field false claim and raise it further, giving it a specific date and changing "Christianity" to "Catholicism" for good measure: "he converted to Catholicism in 1934 (ten years after the Paris Olympics) and spent nearly all his adult life as a Christian", citing the SJM article. Huh? And now, thanks to years in Wikipedia articles, the JumpCut nonsense is spouted all round the internet and in print as fact (except in Harold Abrahams' official 2011 biography book, thoroughly researched and written by Mark Ryan). Ugh, how are we supposed to fight internet-spawned and Wikipedia-promulgated rumors like that? /rant. Softlavender (talk) 06:04, 16 June 2015 (UTC)
- I really had no idea you took that much time or in-depth searching or that you sometimes pay out-of-pocket for the stuff you get us. I also had never heard of Artrieve (you could clue us in once in a while you know? LOL ), and it took my making a faux pas (which you reverted), after which the IP involved named me on the Talk page and I had a look around and saw it mentioned. Serendipitous. Anyway, yeah, the mystery content is resolved, but not how or where to state/refute/explain all of this on the Chariots of Fire and Harold Abrahams articles .... The worst part is, he was involved in Christian stuff in college but in adulthood was quite secular, neither Christian, nor Catholic, nor Jew. "It's complicated", as they say on Facebook relationship statuses. Softlavender (talk) 11:49, 21 June 2015 (UTC)
NYT articles
Also, thanks very much for the (quick!) NYT articles. The latest one offers a lot of previously unknown info about the author. Two questions: (1) I can't link to those article copies on Wikipedia, can I? (2) In any case, are those copies going to disappear (i.e., should I make my own copies to refer to longterm)? Softlavender (talk) 09:49, 8 June 2015 (UTC)
- @Softlavender: (1) No, you cannot link to them due to copyright issues. (2) Always save a copy for your personal use. I remove them right after the recipient successfully downloads it. - NQ (talk) 09:59, 8 June 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks. By the way, could you do me one more? [2] This is about the historical basis for the novel. Thanks. (BTW I realize now that I could get them via ProQuest through your previous instructions but I haven't quite figured out how to master that and you do it so much quicker :-) ). Softlavender (talk) 12:03, 8 June 2015 (UTC)
- @Softlavender: Just checking to see if you received this mail. Y'know spam folder and all. - NQ (talk) 09:48, 21 June 2015 (UTC)
- Ah yes, thank you, Agent N. Forgot to acknowledge that. I actually have another unfilled NYT request out on the Rx page, if you'd like to get that vacation out of your system. (BTW, hope it was a good one! ) Softlavender (talk) 10:07, 21 June 2015 (UTC)

Helps develop the encyclopedia by having impossible to find sources made available to aid in verification. Difficult to find or cost-prohibitive sources can prove insurmountable to some editors. User:John Carter submitted the following nomination for Editor of the Week:
I nominate User NQ to be Editor of the Week for his extremely welcome work over at the Wikipedia:WikiProject Resource Exchange. One of the most important things to developing an encyclopedia is having the sources available with which to develop an encyclopedia. Some of us know those can be all but impossible to find in libraries, but maybe accessible to those at the Resource Exchange, who also tend to have a better idea of where to look for such sources than a lot of us would. The kind of generally completely unnoticed work he does there is one of the most important tasks we need around here, and I wish I could include all the regular contributors that work there in this nomination. NQ is a really creative contributor and peacemaker. This nomination was supported by User:OccultZone and User:Yash!. Thanks again for your efforts! . Buster Seven Talk 17:30, 12 July 2015 (UTC)
- This is absolutely wonderful! Thank you very much John for the kind words - haven’t seen you around in a while, hope all is well. Same goes for you OccultZone - I know you’re reading this. :) Thanks Yash! for the support.
- Buster7, I’d like to especially thank you for your hard work in coordinating the eddy awards and making sure everything goes smoothly. Having followed WER for a while, I’ve always been impressed by your thoughtfulness and calm positive attitude in the face of trolls. Keep up the amazing work. Thanks to all. - NQ (talk) 09:48, 17 July 2015 (UTC)
- Thank you, NQ. Your words of support mean a lot to me. I sometimes wonder if anyone notices.. Buster Seven Talk 15:45, 17 July 2015 (UTC)

No, you didn't revert Yunshui, or am I missing something? Bishonen | talk 17:09, 21 July 2015 (UTC).
- @Bishonen: Ah. I was just responding to Yunshui's "AAHHROLLBACKGODDAMMITSELFREVERTSELFREVERTSELFREVERT!" [4] with that childish edit summary. I even added an ";)" in the end. That edit summary popping up on multiple watchlists didn't cross my mind at the moment. - NQ (talk) 17:16, 21 July 2015 (UTC)
Sears, To The Gates
Hey NQ,
You managed to get a few pages for me the other day from Stephen W. Sears' To The Gates of Richmond: The Peninsula Campaign (New York: Ticknor & Fields, 1992) the other day. Do you think it would be possible if you could get pages 308–337? It would be much appreciated. Cheers, --ceradon (talk • edits) 07:31, 5 August 2015 (UTC)

Wikipe-tan and Softlavender thank you for your tireless helpfulness, on Resource Request and elsewhere! Softlavender (talk) 10:28, 13 August 2015 (UTC) |
- Well, this is a pleasant surprise Softlavender - Thanks! What brought this on suddenly? :) - NQ (talk) 13:36, 13 August 2015 (UTC)
- I've been trying to create that for a couple of days for you, but gave up because I couldn't figure out how. Then I idly clicked on the "wikilove" button on another talk page today, and discovered it now has a "Make your own" tool that is very simple. I never knew that was there! Anyway, you know I appreciate all your tireless help in getting us all the sources we need. Plus lately I see you lots of other places, protecting the wikiverse, even my own talk page! :-) So I (and Wikipe-tan) just wanted to say thank you! Softlavender (talk) 13:45, 13 August 2015 (UTC). Or maybe it wasn't my own talk page, now that I look. I don't know where, but somewhere, you did something good. LOL. Haha ... Softlavender (talk) 14:00, 13 August 2015 (UTC)

VisualEditor
Hey, I saw your question at WP:VPT. I asked around, and the word is that this code has never worked at most wikis. It probably still works at a couple of other bigger wikis, but no longer here at en.wp. Since MediaWiki doesn't support global prefs yet, the much more reliable method is to visit each wiki separately and tick "⧼Visualeditor-preference-betatempdisable⧽". Bon voyage, and come back soon ...
Please come back soon, NQ. You seem to be clearing out a lot of stuff, but I hope your wikibreak is temporary and fun. Your participation here is invaluable and much appreciated. Be well. Softlavender (talk) 11:45, 24 October 2015 (UTC)
