Wolf Hill Scenic Area is one of the largest famous scenic areas in Jiangsu province. It locates in the south of Nantong. It is consisted of five hills, which are Wolf hill, Ma’an hill, Huangni hill, Jian hill, and Jun Hill. The scenic area is near the Yangzi River, which is also respected as Mother river. All hills are surrounded with water, which creates a beautiful scenery in light. Wolf hill that stands in the middle of the scenic area highs about 106 meters and it is the most attractive and remarkable among the hills. As a result, wolf hill is the representative of them, which lies in as companies. It is said that white wolves used to live in the hill and the hill looks like a wolf. Therefore, it is called wolf hill. In 990 to 994, an official named Yangjun took charge of Nantong and he had an idea that the name "Wolf hill" did not sound decent. In the end, he changed the name into "langshan," which means beauty. Some years later, people call the hill Zilangshan because there are a large amount of purple rocks on the hill. Nantong obtained an elegant name zilang as well with the help of wolf hill. Apart of this, wolf hill is also famous as Buddhist hill. Even though Wolf hill is not tall, it is outstanding in the Jiangsu plain. A great number of visitors pay a visit to it. The famous calligrapher Mifu had gone here and believed it as the best hill in the world. The excellent poet Luobinwang chose the hill as his forever home and asked that his body should be buried there after his death.
