Archbishop D.I.C. Josephson Profile It is almost impossible to describe His Eminence, Archbishop (Prof) Dennis Ikechukwu C. Josephson. The diligence, grace, vision and focus that fused together to mould this erudite Man-of-God is beyond words. Called and separated early in life as a Minister of God’s Word, Archbishop Josephson is a Prophet, a pen in God’s hand and filled with the Holy Spirit as end-time General of God’s Army.

Born to the family of late Mr. and Mrs. Josephson Nwankwo, the Archbishop is a native of Ndiowu town in Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State. His early education was highly distorted because of God’s calling. He did his Primary education at Ndike/Ndiowu Central School in Orumba – North Local Government Area. Thereafter, he went into several Church works, trainings and pastoral apprenticeships as demanded by God. On May 26 1964, as a young boy through God’s directive, he founded the National Holy Ghost Church of Christ (NHGCC), a pentecostally oriented Church and had the first worship in his father’s house at his village.

Having established, by divine grace, four branches of his Church in four towns in Anambra State – namely: Oko, Nanka, Ndiowu and Awgu, he proceeded to Secondary School at Aguata High School in Anambra State between 1974 to 1979 where he obtained his West African School Certificate (WASC) Grade A. He later attended several higher institutions and obtained other Academic qualifications and honours, namely:

 MSc and PhD in Theology from New Port University, USA – 1985 – 1990  BSc in Accountancy, University of Nigeria – Nsukka – 2008  Founder and President of Holy Ghost Theological Seminary, Anambra State  Founder National Holy Ghost Church of Christ (NHGCC) World-wide in 1964 – till date  Ordained a Bishop on July 14th, 1995 by former General Overseer of Church of God Mission and National President of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Late Archbishop Benson Idahosa.  Appointed Ambassador for Peace of the United Nations by UN in 2008.  Conferred with a Gold Medal Award and appointed Honorary Adviser by the Indian Board for alternative Medicine in 2008.  Conferred with a Gold Medal Award by the Anambra State Red Cross Society in 2008.  Conferred with an Honorary Professorship Award from St. Thomas A. Backet University, England  Consecrated an Archbishop in May 2009 by His Eminence, Most Rev. Dr (Sir) Anthony Cowles, the Presiding Prelate of Wesley Synod World-wide An ardent Philanthropist, Archbishop Denis Josephson has many Widows and helpless children under his care and education. He is also deep into Missionary support works and donations, which is unrivalled.

CHALLENGES Archbishop D.I.C. Josephson has had multi-faceted challenges both in his personal life and in the course of his ministry including several attempts on his life by assassins, but he triumphed over them all through his unshakeable faith in the Word of God.

Early in the life of his ministry, he prayed for a woman who was barren for 11 years, she later gave birth to a bouncing baby boy. On the day of the child’s dedication in the Church, the woman brought eight palm kernels as her thanksgiving offering. Archbishop Josephson accepted the palm kernels from the woman, but his Pastors refused to have anything to do with the offering. Few days later, seven of the Pastors left the Church. But today, the Archbishop feeds almost a community through his selfless giving and donations.

At about that time, the General Overseer was travelling to Enugu in his car alongside his inlaw when hired assassins overtook and blocked them with their car. Three gun-men jumped out of the car and opened fire on the Man-of-God and the occupants of his car. The Archbishop’s only reaction was a shout of the name ‘JESUS!’. Suddenly, three Angels appeared and stood between his car and the gun-men. For several precious minutes that they kept shooting, the bullets did not touch the Archbishop’s car even at such a close range. After a while, the leader of the assassins, who was sitting inside their car ordered his men back into the car and they drove off. Nearby farmers, who ran away when they heard sporadic gun shots, came out of their hidings expecting to see dead bodies in the car that was shot only for the Man- of-God to step out of his car untouched.

In 2012 at Upper Iweka, Onistsha – Anambra State, while waiting with his wife, Cynthia for their driver to pick them up, two men brandishing pistols accosted Archbishop Josephson threatening to “waste” his life if he did not settle them. The Archbishop dared them to carry out their threats if he was not serving a living God because he owed them nothing that should be settled. After much altercation and exchange of words, the marauders left him and his wife without taking a pin from them.

The latest of the challenges was in November 26, 2015, when he suffered a partial stroke on one of his legs and during a further medical diagnosis in India, it was discovered by three renowned Indian Surgeons that he was carrying a far more life-threatening illness than the partial stroke. The erudite Minister of the Gospel, was carrying 57 (fifty-seven) stones in his kidney and yet showed no signs of any pain all the years. His mysterious recovery rate led to the conversion of the three Indian Surgeons to Christianity after witnessing one of the greatest miracles of our time.

According to medical experts, one stone is enough to cause a kidney failure. Yet, this Man-of-God had 57 and showed no signs of slowing down in his quest to spread the Word of God to the whole world.

The three Surgeons at BLK Super Specialist Hospital in New Delhi, India were left bewildered on why the man’s kidney had not failed all these years despite the enormity of the stones he was carrying and considering his age too.

He was immediately booked for four major surgical operations there. What baffled the Surgeons further was that each time they carried out the surgical operation on Daddy and booked him for another one in two weeks’ time; they would come back the next day only to discover that the wound had healed completely. Again, they would wheel him into the theatre for another operation and again the next day, the Lord would heal the wound completely.

The Surgeons became puzzled and began to enquire about the Archbishop because they had never witnessed something like that. They had feared that the operation would have some complications given his age. Not only was there none, but that the quick healing process surpassed any medical explanation. Not only that, rather than surviving on majorly liquid foods like every person who underwent major surgical operation, the Man-of-God ate whatever he wanted without endangering the surgery.

And that was how he went through four major surgical operations within a space of three weeks. To further emphasis that the power of God was at work on him, the last surgery was performed on him the very day he was flown back home to Nigeria. Yet he was discharged and certified fit to fly for that long distance.

Having witnessed first-hand miracles in the process of the multiple surgeries, the Surgeons became believers as Archbishop Josephson led them to Christ. They pleaded for his mentorship and for him to establish a branch of National Holy Ghost Church of Christ in New Delhi.

One of the Surgeons followed up his new found faith in Christ by visiting the Archbishop in his home in Lagos and spent one month with him before flying back to India. The Man-of-God, being a medical doctor by profession, had useful talks on partnering with the Surgeons on medical fields here in Nigeria. Papa Josephson has since regained his full strength and continued his mission of spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ.
