Hey everyone I'm currently called N3ur0n79 located in Detroit Michigan United States of America]]. To be transparent, I kinda "know" why I am here and feel both at home/hopeful and nervous. I don't know programing languages but I am highly competent in the field of social work and psychology which for some clinicians offers insights into subtle nuance of language/linguistics/. Programing is a language and some languages are gendered which requires a strong mindfulness of diversity and knowing one's strengths and limitations. I am interested in learning some programing languages if this can further be of service.
I think machine learning will allow many amazing advances for humanity which even includes the video gamers benefiting from DLSS which is machine learning reconstructing images at likely IMPROVED energy and efficiency long term I think there are explicit and implicit differences with NLP for example....down to the political level. I'm REALLY excited about this because I think I can be an effective change agent for WMF and affiliate partners. I have been talking with my wife who also has many qualities that should provide benefit and insight to me which will help further my effectiveness in either progressing with what appears to be a Bold and positive mission to increase reach and engagement around the world helping diverse constituencies access information which is arguably the most valuable resource in one's pursuit to arriving at whatever goals one would like to manifest.
I strongly believe but am open to new information that the world functions in many complex ways. There are both hierarchies biologically as well as social constructs such as gender. Yet I feel somewhat unique being a white male in that I also think everything can be a spectrum from gender to mental health and addiction issues evidenced by the way ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) is defined in the DSM-V (diagnostic manual for clinicians currently in the 5th revision). I also am passionate about social justice but consider myself more "old school" in that I have ALWAYS been that before the word became prominent online. I have a decent understanding of institutional discrimination, how it is used on both Micro and Macro levels yet don't necessarily read countless peer-reviewed articles because some people just "get how the world works" without a specific manual.
In simple terms: I think I am on to something more meaningful for myself and my wife. We both are clinicians (she is a physician in psychiatry who immigrated to the US from Pakistan) and live a comfortable life but we crave something more meaningful. We help people for a living but I think there is a bigger way to help represent the mission, vision and values of whatever it is that I think I am seeing. Then again, I understand I may be misreading the room as they say in English, this is irrelevant and perhaps not the best way to take a leap of faith and get help assessing if I can be of benefit at a higher level of responsibility, ethics and to help steer the next 15 years of the very ambitious global project to bring knowledge to the world.....for free.
Sincerely,
