About me

I am currently in college and I am enjoying it. In the time that I am not studying, I enjoy making puzzles. I picked up the hobby during quarantine of 2020. The largest puzzle I have accomplished was a 2,000 piece Mickey Mouse puzzle.I also love exploring the beautiful state I live in and love animals. I have two pet rabbits and a dog. The bunnies are Holland Lops and they love to cuddle. Rabbits do not often like being held high up but they love receiving head rubs[1]. To explore the state I live in, I like to hike every weekend in the summer.

My Wikipedia Activities

I hope to learn how to use this website well, as it could be very beneficial to learn how to scope out information and what it takes to create a good article. I would love to come back to this page in the future and volunteer editing pages about animals and the misconceptions that could be written. Editing could be a good educational hobby to pick up in my free time.

Article Evaluation

[edit]

My absolute favorite drink is aqua de tamarido, a refreshing fruit drink. A well balanced blend of water, sugar and flavoring. The flavorings can consist of many different fruits, cereals, or seeds. These drinks pair wonderfully with an elote (Mexican street corn) on a hot summer day. While exploring Wikipedia, I came across the article on “Agua Fresca”, and I found three aspects of it worth commenting on: generally very little information, the terminology section is unnecessary and there is a lack of credible citations.

The article itself is very short with not much information. Growing up drinking these religiously as they are a staple in my culture, I expected there to be more information about them. There is a description, a sentence on where you can get them, then a list of different flavors. What should be included is some information on the most popular flavors and the history. The Horchata flavor is very popular and it does have its own Wikipedia page but it is not featured in this article. The history of some of the flavors is very interesting and can be found on other Wikipedia articles which is why it should also be included in this one.

The terminology section is unnecessary when you know the different kinds of drinks. It gives different names for the drinks in different parts of the world but it is completely irrelevant. It seems to have been written by someone who is not fully fluent in Spanish as it mentions other drinks that sound similar but are completely different, to explain to the reader that it can be confusing. While it is adding to the article, it is not information necessary to explain.

The article has a lack of citations. The terminology section explains different parts of the world and drinks but fails to cite where the information comes from. There are a total of three citations, while reading through them I found that one is from an internet archive website, the other is an American blogger who reviews food and the last one is a Spanish news article. Not the most reliable sources but the biggest sign that this article needs credibility is the banner Wikipedia has at the top.

These drinks are a staple in my culture and the article is needing some work. Coming across the article I expected more but it was lacking information, it included unnecessary information and needs credible citations. These mouth watering, delicious, fresh, cool drinks deserve a thorough article.
