My Very Weird Pointless Movie is a an independent film project that turned into an official series in mid 2007, directed by Aaron Kempkes. The next movie, A New Beginning, is slated for release in 2008. No official month, day or season have been designated yet. There have been two premieres, one for each film. The first movie premiered on March 31, 2007 with the sequel premiering August 15, 2007. Both premieres were held in Syracuse, Nebraska at the house of one of the cast members, Billy Shrader.

Plot

[edit]

What started out as a bunch of filming over Homecoming turned into a full-fledged project. There really is no premise to the movie except that it settles in the comedy and reality categories due to its subject matter.

The things recorded were real and were not staged. Everything on there was recorded as it was happening.

A major success factor of this movie is the element of surprise and improvision. Although somethings may not have been scripted, there are some parts that are improvised. However, that makes the story more fun to see on camera and more prone to critic letdown.

A great way to describe it would be a random collection of footage centered around the 4 years of high school for director Aaron Kempkes. This movie is not characterized as reality television because it is strictly home movie format.

Filming

[edit]

These movies are filmed on location at SDA High School. Filming lasts a long time. September 23, 2005 was the first day and May 25th, 2007 was the last. A New Beginning began filming on July 28th, 2007 and should be finished filming in May 2008.

Filming for A New Beginning is currently in progress and is set to end in mid-May 2008.

Problems

[edit]

It was thought that this film would not be completed due to the fact that no editing could be done for over 8 months after filming was completed. Also, it was thought My Very Weird Pointless Movie 2: Sophomore Sequel was going to be scrapped until March 7, 2007 when it was decided that filming would continue for the sequel.

The problem factor is clearly stated in the first trailer where it says "After Waiting Over a Year And A Half". This is reference to the time that was lost after filming. The actors/actresses are 14 and 15 in this movie and they are currently 16 and soon going on 17. A New Beginning visits the characters in their Junior Year, which is the most recent.

Facts/Trivia About The First Two Movies

[edit]

Did you know that...?

Aaron's roles are basically cut out of the movie.

The reason the movie is rated R is due a flock of scenes that could have been cut.

The movie is going to be 2 1/2 hours long.

4 people that were friends during production are no longer friends now. As of just recently, this is beginning to revert back to normal.

If the movie had been held until December 9, 2007, the wait for it would have been 2 years exactly.

The sequel is set to come out on September 23, 2007, the day this movie started filming 2 years before. *This changed to August 15th, 2007

More characters are in this movie than just about any movie in history. Over 100 people appear in the film at least once.

Even though this film has a lot of people in it, only about 20 are main characters and are filmed up close or often.

If it wasn't for the hype surrounding this film, it wouldn't even be made.

Many teachers make their appearances in this movie and some are main characters.

No film releases were signed or issued during this movie.

The Parachute Guy Awards are based off of the scene "Parachute Guy" in the first movie.

There are 8 parts to each film.

There are almost 70 chapters in the first film and only about 40 in the second one.

The film is so big that it wouldn't fit on a CD for transfer so the DVD production was moved to later.

The first premiere date was set on March 31, 1 day before a character's birthday.

Almost 45 minutes of cut footage stayed in the movie against the director's better judgement.

The budget for the series is currently 185 dollars. No money is set to be earned from the production and distribution of this film.

This series is supposed to continue after 2007 with the Junior and Senior movies released in 2008 and 2009 respectively. Because of the schedule, the last movie will be released in May 2009.

A Senior Video will be put together from footage of all four years.

Sophomore Sequel

[edit]

My Very Weird Pointless Movie: Sophomore Sequel is the second movie in the MVWPM series, premiered on August 15, 2007 and an undetermined release date. It stars an ensemble cast with only a few minor adjustments. Currently, there are 2 people that will not appear in the sequel due to various reasons.

The trailers for this film have been released on YouTube and at the official MySpace page. The second movie is rated R, but it is certain that it will feature more mature content than the first and be aimed almost completely at the comedy angle.

Potential Candidates For Not Leaving Cast

[edit]

Lynn Buchholz 95%

As far as I know, if I do the third movie, he will be in it. Unless something major happens.

Billy Shrader 87%

I don't know if Billy has that much better odds than I do of being in the third movie. The only reason Billy's odds are 87% is because we are still not sure if he is a candidate to leave the cast or not.

Aaron Kempkes 85%

The reason I'm saying 85% is because if there is basically no one here Junior Year, what would be the point of continuing the series. I think the cliffhanger at the end of the sequel could suffice if I decide not to continue.

Ryan Haight 85%

I don't know whether Ryan is leaving, but he could not be in the movie much. I hope that he's able to continue, however, he's got the same odds as me.

Tori Haight 85%

If Ryan continues, she'll be in it.

Tawni Mounce 83%%

At first, it was a 19% because I thought she wasn't going to return. This is unconfirmed, so in the mean time, I raised her percentage up because she will most likely be back for three.

Ashley Schmit 81%

I think we'll see Ashley in the third movie. There is no reason why we wouldn't. She has an 81% chance to continue.

Aspen Patterson 81%

I think we will definitely see Aspen again in the third movie, unless something major happens.

Tyra Andera 80%

She has a good chance of coming back to do a third movie. I don't think she is going to move and she will most likely be in the film somewhere, so expect her to have a 80% chance of staying.

Reva Baumann 71%

I don't know how good of odds she has for staying for "It Continues". However, I am still giving a 71% chance she'll continue.

Chelsea Seydlitz 70%

I think Chelsea has lower odds of being in the third movie. I hope she doesn't leave the cast, but she only has a 70% chance of continuing.

Augy Davis 67%

He is in the sequel, so we might see him again in the third movie because of the premiere for the second one. I wouldn't expect him to be in it, but he has a 67% chance.

Jared Swaink 64%

He gets a 64% chance of continuing because he will be a senior and who knows what will happen. I think we'll see Jared again though.

Becca Thoms 59%

I don't know if she will continue. She really isn't in them this year, but we COULD see another appearance by Becca.

Tyler Eacret 54%

We will only see Tyler a couple times in the sequel, so he has very low odds of continuing for the third movie.

Nick Lamblin 49%

He is in the sequel in one very brief clip that could be cut. Who knows if he will be in the third movie at all.

Mike Robertson 40%

He is in a few clips of the sequel, but the odds of him continuing for movie three are slim-- less than half.

Andy Eacret 34%

He has not been anywhere in the sequel yet, so he has VERY low odds of being in the third one.

Ben Finke 28%

I don't know if Ben is leaving the series. He is barely in the sequel so I doubt he'll be back for three.

Jenny Halvorsen 21%

I think she is only a few places in the sequel, but her odds of being back for the third one are about 1:5.

Ashley Hartman 20%

She is non-existant in the sequel. I don't think she'll be back for "It Continues".

Brian O'Connell 10%

His odds of returning for movie three are bad. He is non-exisitant in the sequel, but he still has a 1:10 chance of being back for the third movie.

Phillip Brooks 0%

He will be graduating, so I doubt we'll see him again in My Very Weird Pointless Movie.

Andrew Fornander & Kodi Smith moved at the end of the first movie so their return to the series isn't even worth observing because I doubt they'll be back.

Cliffhanger In Sequel

[edit]

People are still curious about the supposed cliffhanger at the end of the Sequel. This is supposedly supposed to satisfy fans if it is the last movie. The cliffhanger was shown at the premiere and everyone ended up liking it...

A New Beginning

[edit]

My Very Weird Pointless Movie 3: A New Beginning is the third installment of the hopeful four part series created by Aaron Kempkes in September 2005. The film is named "A New Beginning" because it reflects director Aaron Kempkes' choice to strive for something new and fresh. It is set to be released in 2008 sometime and should have the greatest amount of film and promotional material out of all three movies. Kempkes predicts there could be upward of 20 hours of film and upwards of 10-15 minutes of promotional material. Because of this, a teaser trailer and poster have already been released with another teaser trailer and poster in the next month or two. No official trailers, clips or posters are expected until December 2007 at the least. The promotional aspect of this movie is pointless and off-the-wall posters with teaser trailers that give very little away. This is different compared to the second movie where many scenes were depicted in early trailers. Kempkes hopes that the "veil element", as he calls it, will make the movie better because not as much will be spoiled and more can be enjoyed.

On April 22nd, the third installment, It Continues, was shelved until further notice. This is due to the time that would be involved as well as the possiblity of over half of the cast leaving.

On July 25, 2007, it was decided that A New Beginning, what It Continues was renamed to, will begin filming on July 28th. A New Beginning is currently filming and is slated for a 2008 release. Four new people have joined the already large cast as movie regulars now. Three have significant parts but may not be seen as much.

It may still be brought back, and if so, My Very Weird Pointless Movie: It Continues is slated to premiere on September 21, 2008.

The current tagline for the film is "forget the rules. prepare for a new start." A poster themed this way has already surfaced on the official MySpace as well as a trailer released in late July. A poster that required actual pictures and not stills, a first for the series, is currently in the works and should be released in the upcoming week or so. Also, a second teaser trailer should be around in September/October 2007.

Over the course of the next few months of filming, countless promotional things will be released. However, no one has actually saw anything significant from the film. It is still being kept under wraps what it contains. More about the movie should be revealed in the next teaser trailer and the official trailer in December 2007.

Will The New Beginning Continue?

[edit]

It is still unsure whether End of the Road, the final chapter, will be released. My Very Weird Pointless Movie 4: End of the Road, if it is made, will be shown on May 15th, 2009.

This specific date was set as a basis for when the series will have a definite end. It has also been stated as a good promotional tool, 5.19.09. A rumored tagline for part 4 is "you saw them from the beginning. now watch them make one hell of a closer." although that is not confirmed.
