What is RfA
[edit]Request for adminship also know as the RfA is a process every Wikipedia user has to go through in order to become an administrator. The Wikipedia community get's to decide in a democratic fashion who will get access to the admin tools in order to help with the maintenance of the site. User's can be self-nominated or put up for nomination by another user who think's they are up to the tasks.
The Process
[edit]The Wiki community is very careful on to whom administrative power is given to; since the power is difficult to revoke. The user has to go through a 7 day long discussion by other members of the community to see if they possess the skills needed. Users then vote for the user by giving a support/neutral/support notification. Bureaucrat are ultimately the ones that decide if the user is successful or unsuccessful in being an administrator.
Succesfull RfA
[edit]User PresN has been successfully through the RfA process and these are the important details pertaining to it:

- 4000 in the Wikipedia space
- 1000 in the Wikipedia talk space
PresN was nominated by an admin called Deckiller who said this about PresN:
- Deckiller said the user PresN has an extensive history with the community.
- Parts of many articles that were up to the DYK standards that shows you he understands quality policies.
- The user displays humble characteristics and wants to stay out of the lime light; rather would just do work and help the Wiki community.
Discussion Questions
[edit]User jc37 asked directly, “Why would you like to be an admin?”. Answer: Essentially, I like to fix things and build things. I like to make the tools useful. I am not interested in the prestige of being an admin, ; I just want the tools to do what they were created for.
