BASIC DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TCP/IP MODEL AND OSI MODEL
[edit]The Basic Difference Between OSI and TCP/IP Model
[edit]1)OSI is a reference model and Tcp/Ip is an implement tation of OSI model.
2)Tcp/Ip Protocol are considered to be standard around which the internet has developed .
The Osi model however is a "generic,protocol-independent standard".
3)Tcp/Ip combines the presentation and session layer issues into its application layer.
4)Tcp/Ip combines the osi data link and physical into network access layer.
5)Tcp/Ip appears to be simple model and this mainly due the fact that it has fewer layers.
6)Tcp/Ip is considered to be more relibale model.this mainly due to the fatbecause Tcp/ip protocols are standards around which the internet was developed therefore it mainly gains creditability due to this reason.Where as in contrast network are not bilt around the osi model as it is merely usedas aguidancs tool.
7)the Osi model consist of seven layer where as Tcp/ip consist of only four layers.
8)The Session layer permits two parties to hold on going communications called a session across a network.where as it is not found in TCP/IP model. In TCP/IP,its characteristics are provided by the TCP protocol.
9)In the Presentation Layer it data format information for networked communications. This is done by converting data into a generic format that could be understood by both sides.
where as in TCP/IP, this function is provided by the Application Layer.
10)The Osi model is bottom to up process of network connection where as the Tcp/ip is the top to bottom process structure for internet purpose.
