Calvin Simon

Calvin Ahmad Simon (born January 15th, 1988) is an American football wide receiver. He played for Concordia University, St. Paul finishing his senior year in December of 2010. Calvin Simon holds the NCAA Division II record for consecutive games with a catch, which is at 40 games. [1]

College Career

Freshman Year

As a Freshman Calvin Simon played in 11 of Concordia, St. Paul's 11 games on the year, sustaining zero injuries his 2007 season. Statistically, Calvin received a total of 53 passes for a total of 769 yards. He scored 7 touchdowns, all receiving as a Freshman. He averaged 14.5 yards a catch and his longest reception of the year was 66 yards. Calvin began his record streak of consecutively catching at least one ball in every game and averaged 4.8 receptions per game. [2]

Sophomore Year

Calvin A. Simon's Sophomore year was highlighted with a record tying touchdown reception of 99 yards. In addition, Calvin successfully made a reception in all 10 games he played in, extending his consecutive catch streak to 21 games. Due to injury, Calvin missed 1 game in his 2008 season. Statistically, Calvin A. Simon compiled 35 receptions for 517 yards and averaged 51.7 yards per game.

Junior Year

As a Junior, Calvin A. Simon went injury free and played in 11 of 11 games for his team, the Golden Bears of Concordia. Calvin's 2009 season was his best year for yards in game as he averaged 71.3 recption yards per game. For the season, Calvin A. Simon caught a total of 46 balls for 784 yards. His longest reception of the year was 80 yards and he scored 4 touchdowns, all receiving. Calvin A. Simon extended his consecutive catch streak to 32 games as he made a reception in every game.

Senior Year

Calvin A. Simon's team his Senior year finished with an 8-4 record overall and 7-3 (4th place)[3] in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC). The team was invited to play and did so in the Mineral Water Bowl, losing the bowl game 13-9. Calvin played in 8 of 12 games for the Golden Bears, missing 4 games due to an injury. Calvin finished his collegiate career by successfully making a reception in every game he played in, making his career streak of consecutive catches total 40 games. By doing so, he holds the record for consecutive games with a reception in NCAA Division II football.
