75th Anniversary of the Great Victory is a jubilee, marking 75 years since the victory over Nazi troops in World War II. In honour of the date, 2020 year is officially declared the year of memory and glory in Russian Federation. The anniversary is celebrated throughout the country and abroad. The celebration of the anniversary has been complexed by the rapid spread of COVID-19 infection. Notwithstanding, numerous parades and events were held all over the world.
Meaning
[edit]Victory Day (The Day of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War) in Russia is celebrated on the 9th May, as on the 8th May in 1945 the act declaring capitulation of the fascist troops were signed in Berlin on the second surrender signing, The first one took place the day before in Reims, France, on the 7th May in 1945, when German colonel Alfred Jodl signed Germany’s surrender on all fronts. National Victory Day in Europe (or V-E) is celebrated on 8th May.

[edit]The main solemn event in Russian Federation was the military parade which was held on the 22nd July, 2020 in Moscow on the Red Square. Over 14,000 service personnel, more than 200 units of military hardware and 75 aircraft were engaged in the military parade to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.[1] The parade was attended by the president Vladimir Putin himself, as well as by the leaders of several countries.
Military parades of a smaller scale were held across the country, concerts and memorial evenings were also held.
In honour of the great date, the Jubilee Medal "75 Years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War 1941–1945" was established by presidential decree to denote the anniversary of the victory over Nazi.
In the world
[edit]Honors were also given at memorials in Washington, London, Paris and other major cities in Europe[2]. Websites of national museums offered an opportunity for a distant study of the materials about the events of the war and its heroes.
