Lady Camilla Bloch QC (born 30 June 1970) is a British barrister. Before her marriage in 1998 she was Lady Camilla Bingham.
Born in Paddington,[1] Lady Camilla is the daughter of Richard Bingham, 7th Earl of Lucan, and his wife Veronica Mary Duncan. She was educated at St Swithun's School, Winchester, and Balliol College, Oxford, then was admitted to the Inner Temple and was called to the bar in 1996. On 12 September 1998 she married Michael Gordon Bloch,[2] a fellow barrister and QC,[3] at St Peter's Church, Eaton Square, Belgravia.[4] At the wedding, their three page-boys all wore court dress, including barrister's wigs.[5]
Bloch's legal practice is in corporate and commercial law, on cases arising in England and Wales and overseas, in arbitration as well as litigation. She specialzes in issues concerning jurisdiction and conflict of laws and is a contributor to '"Gore-Browne on Companies. She is also a member of the bars of the Grand Court of the Cayman Islands and the Supreme Court of the Eastern Caribbean, and her name is on the Register of Practitioners (Part II) in Dubai.[6] She was a director of SHM Property Management Ltd from 1999 to 2006[7] and was appointed as a Queen's Counsel in 2013.[8]
In March 2002 Bloch announced the birth of her first child. She now has four sons, Cameron Charles, born 2002,[9] Angus John Patrick, 2003, Oliver Michael, 2006, and Elliot George, 2010, as well as two step-daughters, Susy and Claudia, from her husband's previous marriage.[5]
Bloch has spoken out agsinst those who accuse her father of being a murderer. In 2013 she commented on a new television dramatization of his story "As a lawyer I hope it's not old-fashioned to point out that my father never stood trial. It is unfortunate that he is regularly referred to – in almost factual terms – as a murderer. He has never been able to defend himself and the evidence was not conclusive. It was circumstantial."[10]
When Bloch's mother, Lady Lucan, died in 2017, she stated in her will that she was leaving nothing to her children because of "lack of good manners".[11]
