Narayangarh Highway is one of the oldest highway in Nepal. It was constructed in 1970s. The highway stretches 36 kilometre north of Narayangarh to a small town named Munglin. This is the highway where renowned politician and Marxist Madan Bhandari, General secretary of the then, Communist Party of Nepal (United) in Dashdhunga sector. The highway was build on the aid of the Chinese government. The highway went for renovation and expansion in 2014, ready for operation in 2016. But due to April 2015 Nepal earthquake and economic blockade imposed by neighbouring India led to delay in work completion. The project was finally concluded in 2018, two years after the proposed time causing a lot of problem for passengers and transport merchants as it was the only reliable roadway to Kathmandu.Traffic Jams and Landslides were a common phenomena in these years. The Government of Nepal has proposed to construct a parallel road opposite Trishuli River in near future making commuters and vehicles comfortable reaching the capital Kathmandu.
