DBL Partners is a San Francisco-based venture capital firm that focuses on impact investing. Its name is an abbreviation of Double Bottom Line. DBL Investors became DBL Partners in 2015 when it combined with the clean tech practice of Technology Partners.[1]
History
[edit]In 2004, J.P. Morgan & Co created a venture fund led by Nancy Pfund which made a number of impact investments including in Tesla Motors in 2006[2]. The bank spun out the fund in 2008 which became DBL Investors headed by Pfund.[3]. In 2015 DBL Investors combined with the cleantech practice of Technology Partners and raised a new $400m impact fund.[1]

DBL has invested in all three companies in which Elon Musk is substantially involved: Tesla Motors, SpaceX and SolarCity something Pfund has said is "not for the faint of heart”. [7]
