Dragan Mojović

[edit]Dragan Mojović 12 eminent Serbian painter, was born 1942. in Belgrade, Serbia where he finished elementary and high school. He graduated at Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy, University of Belgrade. For a while, he also studied philosophy at Faculty of Philosophy, University of Belgrade. He worked as technologist.
Dragan Mojović started to uncover painting as student of technology in School of painting “Šumatovačka”. As immensely talented painter, Dragan Mojović introduced himself in public at the begging of ’70. Critics discovered him at the exhibition “New Romanticism as art of disturbance” at “October Salon” in Belgrade.
His first solo exhibition was organized 1976. in gallery of “Kolarac People’s University” in Belgrade. Afterwards, he has exhibited individually in Belgrade (1980, 1983, 1991, 1994 and 1996), Novi Sad (1978), Ljubljana (1979), Paris (1982, 1997), Zrenjanin (1986), Sombor (1986), Sarajevo (1987), Zenica (1987), Čačak (1989), Ohrid (1990), Aranđelovac (1992) and Priština (1995).
He also participated in number of group exhibitions in: Belgrade (RS), Millsboro (USA), Sarajevo (BH), Zagreb (CRO), Graz (IT), Venice (IT), Wellington (NZ), Oakland (USA), Rotorua (NZ), Christchurch (NZ), Lisbon (POR), Norwich (UK), Dublin (IR), Manchester (UK), Kilkenny (IR), Rijeka (CRO), Sofia (BUL), Cluj (RO), Beijing (CHN), Nanking (CHI), Banja Luka (BH), Warsaw (POL), Wroclaw (POL), Harlem (USA), Moscow (RUS), Lüneburg (GER), Frankfurt (GER), Nicosia (CYP), Čačak (RS), Niš (RS), Dubrovnik (CRO), Stockholm (SWE), Gabrovo (BUL), Namur (BEL), Sombor (RS), Budva (MNE), Karlovac (CRO), Novi Sad (RS), Poreč (CRO), Limassol (CYP), Aranđelovac (RS), Požarevac (RS), Vršac (RS) and others.
He also exhibited at a number of traditional art manifestations like: The Venice Biennale, International Biennale of Original Draft in Rijeka, Triennial of Yugoslavian Art in Belgrade, October Salon in Belgrade, Art Autumn in Sombor, Biennale of Yugoslavian Watercolor in Karlovac, Memorial Nadežda Petrović in Čačak and others. Among exhibitions, Mojović organized number of multimedia performances such as: “Oplođenje središta” (Impregnation of the Center) – consisting in planting of Cedar tree in the Center of the World (Belgrade) and Burning of fireplace; “Solsticijumski vatromet” (Solstice Fireworks) – 1980; “Posvećenje proleća” (Consecration of spring); “Ekvinocijumsko pošumljavanje” (Equinox afforestation) – 1981; “Proširenje središta” (The expansion of the Center); “Uspostavljanje internacionalnog centra sveta” (The establishment of international Center of the world) – 1982; “Obnova centra sveta” (Restoration of the Center of the world) – 1984; “Dokaz centra sveta” (Evidence of the Center of the world) – 1992; “Osvećenje centra sveta” (Sanctification of the Center of the world) – 1993; and others.
For his work, Dragan Mojović received number of awards, among others, “The award of – 11. Biennial of young artists – in Rijeka” (1976); “The award of – 6. Triennial of contemporary Yugoslavian artwork – in Sombor” (1977); “The award of – 6. and 7. International exhibition of original artwork – in Rijeka” (1976 and 1977); “The award of – 10. and 16. Memorial of Nadežda Petrović – in Čačak” (1978 and 1990); “The award of – 20. Anal – in Poreč” (1980); “The award of exhibition – Artwork and ecology – in Maribor” (1980); “The exhibition – From the studio of Belgarde painters – in Belgrade” (1980); “The award from – 2. Interbifep – in Tuzla” (1984); “The award from – 20. and 25. October Salon – in Belgrade” (1984 and 1989); “The award from – 3. Biennale of Yugoslavian watercolor art – in Karlovac” (1985); “The award from – 5. Memorial of Milena Pavlović-Barili – in Požarevac” (1993); “The Grand Prix of – 4. International Biennale of miniature art – in Gornji Milanovac” (1996). He was also winner of prestigious awards: “The – Vijesnik award Josip Račić – in Zagreb” (1979) and “The – Politika award Vladislav Ribnikar – in Belgrade” (1980). [1]
