About

Moynul Islam(Moinul Islam Neloi) is a former student at National University of Bangladesh, now a student at University of Dhaka, who works as a research assistant at IBIRD his research integrates the fields of botany with anthropology, geography and linguistics, among others. He is interested in the traditional knowledge systems and traditional land and resource management systems of Indigenous peoples, particularly in Bangladesh. Moynul has worked with First ever ethnobotanical database of Bangladesh nearly 2 year, collaborating with Indigenous communities to help document, retain and promote their traditional knowledge of plants and habitats, including Indigenous foods, materials and medicines, as well as language and vocabulary relating to plants and environments. Currently, Moynul is working with Initiative for Biodiversity Research and Development(IBIRD) on a research project. Research interests include native species restoration and conservation, sustainable agriculture, plant taxonomy and systematics, tropical forest ecology, invasive species ecology, environmental education, ethnobotany, ethnomedicine, traditional ecological knowledge, plants of spiritual significance, wild and traditional foods, community empowerment, and global environmental politics.[2]
