User:Mohamed Salat Oomaar
Oomaar is currently Somali Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, one of the largest portfolios in the Federal Government of Somalia. In addition to reforming the ministry from policy, structure and staffing points of view, He has accomplished what was deemed impossible—transfer of Somali Airspace Management from 25 years of management under the UN into the hands of the Federal Government of Somalia. In addition, He was able to also kick start Somali Airlines that was dormant for the past 25 years. His performance as a minister is highly appreciated by the government as well as the public and the international community. In addition, He was officially recognized as the best performing minister by the council of ministers.
Before joining the Federal Government of Somalia, He worked for the Islamic Development Bank since 2009 in the area of development and poverty reduction. He was also involved in Islamic Finance practice in different capacities. He is a certified Islamic Finance professional and qualified trainer of Microfinance. Since joining IRTI in 2012, He introduced many Islamic Finance knowledge dissemination initiatives such as IRTI Webinars, short Islamic Finance lecture videos, IRTI Corner Library concept and a new version of IRTI Knowledge Review newsletter. In addition, He developed new policy and procedure for IRTI publications. As a direct result of some of my initiatives, Islamic Financial Services reached new frontiers. He is equipped with initiatives and strategies to develop Islamic Financial Services sector.
