Museum of Goa (MOG)

MOG offers 1,500 square meters of space to display art and is centrally located in Pilerne, between Calangute and Panjim in Goa, INDIA. The building, a three storey structure designed by the well-known architect Dean D’Cruz, stands between industries on one side and the forest on the other. It houses galleries, an Art Store, a café, an auditorium and artist studios.

Museum of Goa (MOG) is an endeavor to take art to the masses and to provide everyone, without bias, the opportunity to be included in the making of contemporary culture via enjoyment of the arts.This unique and inclusive space for the Arts, bring together artists, curators, collectors, art enthusiasts, educators, students and audiences from all walks of life. It is not only a space for exhibitions, but also organizes workshops, residencies, lectures, talks and art courses. MOG embraces a universal perspective and provides a platform to contemporary artists to showcase their work and will also connect them with local and international milieus.

MOG is envisioned less as a repository of objects and more as a laboratory of ideas, where art forms – paintings, sculptures, photography, music, theatre, design, video art, constant dialogue with each other. MOG believes that contemporary art is the universal language of the world today. In spite of being a prime tourist destination, Goa lacks contemporary art spaces. MOG will showcase the best in contemporary art and put Goa on the international art map.

The Museum of Goa was inaugurated on THURSDAY, 5^TH OF NOVEMBER 2015 by Shri Laxmikant Parsekar - Hon. Chief Minister of Goa, in the presence of Smt. Alina Saldanha - Minister for Museums, Shri Dayanand Mandrekar - Minister for Art & Culture and Shri Vijai Sardesai - MLA, Fatorda Constituency.

In Konkani, the word MOG translates to ‘’Love”
