Mobrarian - BWhitmer - Liberty, Clay County, Missouri

Graduate student in the Master of Library Science Program at Emporia State University. A graduate of William Jewell College.

Project Goal - To create a Wikipedia List of the all the libraries in the state of Missouri that can be used as a hub to learn more about the various libraries in the state. I plan to begin this project by creating overview list organized by 1) alphabetical order (sub-sorted by library classification| academic, institutional, public and special. I will not be including elementary or secondary school libraries into the list. 2) county order (list of libraries by Missouri county). 3) special ranking lists by a) size, b) unique collections, c) other attributes that seem valuable

After completing this overview section, I will begin linking the existing Wikipedia articles for the various libraries to the overview page. I will create stub pages for libraries that are not currently represented by an article on Wikipedia. For the stub pages I intend to create, I will follow a templated structure of information.

The goal of this project is to promote awareness of the various libraries within the state of Missouri to increase their usage and visibility. I would also like to make it easier for future library school students to research Missouri libraries and gain an understanding of how they are funded, services they offer, and where they are located.

On a personal note, I think this will be an excellent project learn how to edit and write for the Wikipedia community as well as deepening my knowledge of the available library resources with the state of Missouri.

Thanks,

Brian
