  • this is a somewhat recent academic article that includes a DOI number so it should be a very reliable source, it has a lot of information on various topics related to the article that i'm reviewing so it’s going to be very effective when it comes to using the information from the source.
  • the article talks about the effects of both having and dealing with wildfires and the effects that they can cause to the environment and the wildlife if not treated properly so I feel like it's going to provide a better idea into the thought process of the researchers and how they tackled it.
  • the article talks about the effects that fires can have on the environment when its present, the effects that it can have when its not present, the proper and necessary amount of fire that is needed for safety reasons, and the pros and cons that it will have on Wildlife.
this article will help me add information regarding the following topics
  • going in depth about the pros and cons of prescribed fires
  • Talking about the effects of wildfires on the wildlife
  • Sustainability of certain trees and how they get along with fires
  • how often and intense should the fires be
  • when should the fires be and when is most optimal
  • the size and length of said fires
  • the effects of certain fire size on certain species
  • providing examples of mpst commonly effected species
Butler, Andrew, Ingrid Sarlöv-Herlin, Igor Knez, Elin Ångman, Åsa Ode Sang, and Ann Åkerskog. "Landscape Identity, Before and After A Forest Fire." Landscape research 43, no. 6 (2018)
878-889. https://doi.org/10.1080/01426397.2017.1344205[2]
this is a very well written article about the various effects that wildfires have on landscapes and it goes into further detail about how much actually changed and gets effected by the wildfires, it also goes deeper into the future effects of the effected landscapes.
this article will help me add information regarding the following topics
  • provides actual cases with effected landscape to showcase and paint a better picture
  • provides useful information on landscapes and how vulnerable they can be
  • talks about the relationship between humans and landscapes and the effects that lead to wildfires
  • goes into detail about landscapes original form before the effects
  • talks about the negative effects of having landscapes changing drastically
  • Talks about the future predicament that landscapes will go through due to the change
  • talks about the potential effects that it can have on society due to bad land
Miranda, Ana Isabel, Enrico Marchi, Marco Ferretti, and Millan M. Millan. "Forest Fires and Air Quality Issues in Southern Europe." Developments in environmental science 8 (2008)
209-231.
https://doi.org/10.1016/S1474-8177(08)00009-0[3]

this is a very important source that is very well written and made by trustworthy authors that are connected with the topic that they are researching, the source provides a lot important information about the air quality and how it can be effected due to wildfires and gives a better insight into the pros and cons of wildfire suppression.

this article will help me add information regarding the following topics:

  • Information on how air quality gets effected
  • provides examples of cases and areas that have had these effects
  • goes into great detail about emissions
  • a deeper dive into the ins and outs of air quality and which level it should be at
  • talks about entities concocting plans to counteract the issue
  • talks about attempts of trying to mitigate this issue by providing examples
  • provides professionally collected data and goes deeper into entities and the effects that they’ve had

(Birch, A., & McLennan, J. (2007). Who's Interested?: The NSW Grain belt community survey about volunteering with the Rural Fire Service. Australian Journal on Volunteering, 12(1), 14-25.

https://www.bushfirecrc.com/publications/citation/bf-1322)[4] replacement for the masters thesis and provides the same information that is provided below but with more reliability and information that I have already used in some of my edits such as the impacts that the NSW has on environmental politics, the connections that they have with government agencies, the training that is provided by them, and etc.

Fuller, Michelle Marie. "Herding cats: grassroots and centralized organizing in the case of California's Fire Safe Councils." Master's Thesis, California State University, 2012. [5]

https://scholarworks.calstate.edu/concern/theses/1c18dj50k

this is an extremely well put together source that covers a lot of important topics such as wildfire safety councils and how they work on mitigating wildfires as well as the plans that have laid out in order to achieve there goal. this will provide a lot of information as to how wildfire suppression has made all of these agencies rise as well as the effects of taking down wildfires and in such a large scale.

this article will help me add information regarding the following topics:

  • reasons for these agencies rising in the first place (Fuller et al., 1,2)
  • gives information on the wild land urban interface and need to deal with it (Fuller et al., 3,5)
  • talks about some of the methods of these agencies in dealing with wildfires (Fuller et al., 7,9)
  • mentions the actual usefulness of there methods (Fuller et al., 10,12)
  • talks about other motives besides for taking out wildfires and how it can be the catalyst for something else (Fuller et al., 10)
  • mentions the recruiting locations of the volunteers for these agencies (Fuller et al., 14,15)
  • provides the method of conducting the research itself accompanied with helpful graphs (Fuller et al., 21,23)

Academic sources: all of the academics sources with the potential exception of the masters thesis, are all properly peer reviewed sources that have been published by reputable and trusted sources, I have also previously done a deeper dive into the sources and have found out that the people working on these sources have a lot of experience and background when it comes to what they’re talking about making them even more reputable, I would’ve had second guesses on whether or not I should included them if it was there first time tackling something new but there practical experience makes it easier to trust and use them comfortably.

Implementation of environmental politics: the sources included in here can all help me in implementing something useful when it comes to adding information about environmental politics the first source examines the effects of wildfires and how they effect multiple regions and use that information to find ways of combating it, and using that information as facts to propose to government agencies to garner support for there specific agendas, the second source talks about how much of an effect wildfires have on landscapes by comparing a peace of land before and after a fire to document the effects of it and how it can reduce/change the size of the overall land hence offering more support from the government to pass policies in regards to combating wildfires or at least trying to, third source covers the overall air quality which can have dangerous effects on humans and animals which can incentive more policies to tackle that issue, and my newly added source provides information on a fire safety council that is in the mix of everything and directly handles everything while having connections to government agencies and providing information on how it all works.

News paper sources

[edit]
Wildfire suppression assembly. (2024, ). Targeted News Service (TNS) [6]
https://targetednews.com/

(this source is providing information on a patent winner that doesn’t appear to have any connection to the news service, I even researched the service itself and it seems like they mainly provide information on well documented, publicly available, and reputable information rather than the opposite.

  • this is a more recent news paper article which I feel like is very important when talking about this topic in particular and will be a great help in painting a picture by providing more recent information that people will be more prone to care about over older sources.
  • the source goes deeper into the ins and outs of wildfire suppression and helps by providing more sides and opinions on the matter allowing people to get multiple opinions surrounding the topic.

this article will help me add information regarding the following topics:

  • it goes into great detail about how harmful yet necessary wildfire suppression is
  • it talks about the effects that it can have on people mentally and physically
  • it talks about certain groups and people that get involved with wildfire suppression
  • it provides recent examples of cases to paint a better picture
  • talks about certain areas that got effected by wildfires and wildfire suppression
  • adds more insight and ideas into how the situation can be handled by others
Polanyi, M. (2023, ). Wildfire emissions. National Post (Toronto)[7]
Polanyi, Michael. "Wildfire Emissions." National Post, Aug 05 2023, ProQuest. Web. 11 Nov. 2024 .
this is a very useful source about how emissions get effected by wildfires and it goes into great detail as to what can potentially be done about it as well as how it can be handled.
this source can also provide me with some very valuable information in regards to Canada’s policies as well as more information on how said policies are somewhat skewed and biased trying to push along a certain agenda which is extremely harmful and can provide some false information.
this article will help me add information regarding the following topics:
  • gives a general overview about wildfire emissions
  • talks about how to potentially deal with it
  • talks about the effects that it has and causes on people
  • mentions potential upbringings of it
  • gives a better idea into how people do get effected by it
  • goes deeper into potential reasons as to why it would go on for as long as it has

  • this is a very reliable source that has been reviewed by plenty of scholars and should be a great asset by providing some extremely useful information on a very important topic which is soil and how that gets effected by wildfires.
  • the source goes more in depth about how wildfires should be managed, the right amount of fire that is needed to maintain the soil, how fire is a great necessity to maintain the natural order of things, and the benefits from properly nurturing and being careful with fires.

this article will help me add information regarding the following topics:

  • talks about how the issue of wildfires has persisted for a long time and brings up effects that happened due to that
  • talks about the effects that wildfires have on the physical aspect of soil
  • talks about the effects that wildfires have on the color and overall texture of the soil
  • talks about how soil can repel water and the effects that it bares on wildfires
  • talks about the effects of chemical properties of soil
  • talks about the effects that wildfires have on the nutrients of soil
  • mentions the effects on the biological properties of the soil
