The Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute (CRSI) was founded in 1924, as a non-profit trade association and standards development organization. Headquarters are currently located in Schaumburg, Illinois.
CRSI publishes references on the use of steel reinforcing bars ("rebar") and wire reinforcement (welded wire reinforcement, or welded wire mesh) in concrete. The CRSI Manual of Standard Practice is the guide specified by structural and civil engineers to set requirements for the handling and placement of steel reinforcement.
