Paul Telfer (author and teacher) Paul Telfer is an award winning author and English teacher. He has written several plays, a book with a step by step guide on writing the perfect personal statement (now available as an app and eBook), in addition to being a full time secondary and sixth form English teacher.
Early Career
[edit]Telfer began his career in acting, with the semi-professional role as 'Dicktassle' in the John Dighton play, 'The Happiest Days of Your Life'. Moving on from this, he began to write several plays and screen plays. Notably the episode 'Adam's Story' in the 'New Voices' TV series and the TV movie, 'Starman', filmed in Redcar, England. He has also worked with actors Jamie Bell and Mark Benton. In additon, he began a video company which made profession promotional videos for several local businesses, for example for Martha's Vineyard, also in Redcar.
Later Career
[edit]Having begun teaching English and being a sixth-form tutor, Telfer began to understand the importance of a strong personal statement. This led him to write 'Personal Statements: How to Write a UCAS Personal Statement'. This received wide acclaim, for example The Times calling it 'The essential guide to success'. Its success led it to be released as a Kindle edition and as an app, which allows you to write the statement alongside the step by step guide. He is hoping to begin writing a novel later this year, which will be sure to be as well received as his other endeavours.
Personal Life
[edit]Telfer was born and raised in a small village in the North East of England, where he believes he encountered ghosts in his childhood home. He left home in order to attend university in the South of England. He then returned to his roots and currently resides in the countryside in the North East of England, where he also teaches English to pupils aged 11-18.
