[edit]About me
[edit]I'm Russian and Ukrainian. I am able to speak English, Russian, and Ukrainian. I am from a big family. I am Christian so I enjoy going to church and participating in church. One of my dreams is to be a missionary so I'm working hard to earn money for missionary school. My father was a missionary and is one of my biggest inspirations. I hope to go serve in Africa one day. Some of my hobbies include traveling, cooking, backing, taking walks outside, and weight lifting. I really like to be healthy and support my body. Strength training may enhance your quality of life and improve your ability to do everyday activities.[1] I enjoy cooking and backing authentic Slavic food. I am really passionate about being Christian and my biggest goal in life is to bring as many people to Christ and being the light to everyone around me.
My Wikipedia interest
[edit]If I were to ever contribute to Wikipedia I would definitely write about what I'm passionate about. I would write a page about Slavic food and maybe even put a recipe or two in there. My father is Ukrainian and my mother is Russian. I am really proud to be Russian/Ukrainian, my culture is really dear to me, I really enjoy making Slavic food with my parents. I would also write a page about missionary work in third world countries. My father used to be a full time missionary, and my church is really focused on missionary work in poor countries and preaching to them about Jesus Christ. Our Church has opened many bases, churches, and orphanages in poor countries. They also dig wells and install generators in towns that don't have clean water or electricity. And lastly I would write a page about the importance of working out and being healthy.
Article Evaluation
[edit]One of my hobbies include cooking. Especially authentic cultural food. Both of my parents are Slavic and both immigrated here to America when they were young. But they really love their culture and enjoy making food for us. A food we often make a Russian dish called Pelmeni, they are authentic dumplings made with dough and some sort of meat filling. I visited the Wikipedia page Pelmeni and found three aspects worth commenting on, Sources, Unnecessary information, and Completeness
Sources
[edit]I noticed that many of the citations on this page were just recipes of Pelmeni. Only one of the references was a page on origins of pelmeni, it was college study. All the other references looked like blog posts that and were really biased instead of being neutral. They could of added more references that weren't biased and talked more about the origins of pelmeni not just recipes and blog posts.
Unnecessary information
[edit]This Wikipedia page isn't very long, and there isn't to much to say about pelmeni. But the author wrote a whole section about the difference between different types of dumplings. It takes up one third of the page, they talk excessively much about how pelmeni are different from gyozas and varenyky. They talk more about what pelmeni aren't they what they actually are.
Completeness
[edit]They didn't really talk about how pelmeni are consumed now in modern times. They mentioned in the end how you can buy pelmeni in the store and make it. They could have included how widespread this food has become and in what cultures it is eaten.
Conclusion
[edit]This was as pretty good page I really enjoyed reading about the history and origins of pelmeni. They gave a good amount of information about where and how pelmeni came to be. They even explained how they are made and how to prepare them. They could improve their page by putting more sources that were more relevant to the topic and not just recipes of pelmeni. They also talked a lot about different types of dumpling instead of talking about just pelmeni. And they could have included more information about how pelmeni are consumed now in modern times.
