Miradoll
The Miradoll is a breed of cat that is currently under development in New Zealand. It is the first domestic cat bred for temperament and health as opposed to being bred for looks and/or from genetic deformities. The development of this cat breed came about when a breeder saw the deformities and disease plagueing some of our modern day cat breeds and didn't like where it was heading.
The Miradoll has been created with the rule in mind 'first do no harm'. It originated from a mating of two domestic cats who produced kittens with an exceptionally friendly and laid back temperament. They were a beautiful looking cat that were unlike any other pedigree cat. They bare a heavy influence from the Persian but have been made more 'user friendly' with the breed being free of any genetic disease, having a coat that is easy to care for and a more traditional face, creating a beautiful, healthy and adaptable animal.
A unique characteristic of the breed is that the Miradoll has a friendliness and charismatic energy not seen in other breeds. Unafraid of new surroundings and of meeting new people, it is a versatile cat that is ideally suited to work as a Therapy animal and constant companion.
