Bob Thate is an assistant basketball coach for the Los Angeles Clippers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Graduated from Occidental College in 1970, Thate was drafted in the 17th round as the 232nd pick[1] by the NBA Los Angeles Lakers, although he was cut later in the 1970-71 season.
Subsequently, Thate traveled to France where he played professional basketball for several years. After some time, Thate returned to Los Angeles and became a graduate assistant at Pepperdine University. This was followed by coaching stints at Long Beach State, UC Irvine, Loyola Marymount University, Foothill High School and Irvine High School.
