[edit]About Me
[edit]I am a running start student in 11th grade. I enjoy running and spending time outside with friends and family. In the future, I'd like to pursue a career as an automotive technician, and eventually work to design concept cars for Nissan. I've been around cars for a lot of my life, and I hope that in the future I can continue to work on and be around them. I also run cross country and track and field.
My Wikipedia Interests
[edit]I've never used Wikipedia frequently: It was considered not credible due to it's open nature, and my school wouldn't allow Wikipedia to be cited as a credible source. I'm excited to contribute to a larger database and contribute through editing articles. Considering that Wikipedia may not be credible enough to cite[1], it can still be a good place to go for some base knowledge on a subject you know little about.
Article Evaluation
[edit]Considering that I'm passionate about cars, specifically old Nissan sports cars, I decided to use the Wikipedia article on Impul, a Japanese tuning company who co produced versions of the Nissan Skyline with their aftermarket parts. With this in mind, I decided to visit the Impul article on Wikipedia and found 3 aspects of it worth commenting on: lack of information, out of date information, and few outside sources.
The article itself is relatively short, and falls short of describing the company, mainly because of lack of information. Impul is a tuning company who co produced versions of Nissans skyline, including the r31[2] This was very impactful for the company, but it isn’t even mentioned by the article. None of the products are linked either, despite being available on Impul’s website, which is still up and running.
Impul as a company is still producing parts, and trims for Nissan’s cars,[3] but nothing later than 2002 is mentioned in the article. Impul’s racing career is also brought up, again with nothing more recent than 2006. Adding recent citations, or links to current products or trim levels on Impul’s website, as well as a description of them would be adequate to update the article.
Finally, there are only a few outside sources that support any of the information provided. Racing records are only cited once despite multiple teams being mentioned in the article. There are no citations that support Hoshino racing’s formation
Overall, this article could be largely improved by adding more, relevant information that covers more of the company’s history, updating current information, and adding more relevant citations. This would improve the quality of the article by giving the reader more information that would help them develop a better understanding of Impul as a company.
