Dr. Ivan A. Casas was born in Huancayo, Perú, on September 12, 1938.
After pursuing a doctorate degree in Microbiology at Penn State in College Town, PN, he worked as tenured faculty at University of Zulia in Maracaibo, Venezuela.
Dr. Casas pioneeed fundamental research in probiotics or beneficial microbes.
He cofounded a biotech startup which is now part of BioGaia.
His pivotal work includes isolation and characterization of probiotic strains of Lactobacillus reuteri, one of the probiotic strains with most scientific validation currently available.
