The article that I chose to edit lacked current information. Technology is a field that is being updated every single day, so it is important that an article should stay current on technology. Some of the strengths included that fact that there was a lot of information on the details of autonomous cars, and as I stated before, the main weakness was the fact that it did not have current information on the page.

Edit made: On August 15th, 2016, Audi announced a a vehicle to infrastructure service (V2I), which would allow cars to communicate with traffic lights to inform the driver when the light changes from green to red. Audi expects the release of this technology to be included in select 2017 Audi Q7 an A4 models with Audi Connect.[1]

Critique:

The article that I have chosen to critique is an article about autonomous cars.  It consists of about twelve pages of information on autonomous cars, and another five on the sources cited throughout the article.  The article starts off by stating the difference autonomous cars and automated.  It then goes into some more detail about the actual technology that makes autonomous cars possible, and then into the history and finally into the advantages and disadvantages of having an autonomous car, backed by information.

For the most part, I believe this article does a good job of citing where the author got their information from.  However, I believe there are some areas in which you can read a couple of sentences and there would be no sources cited when in fact there should be.  There was one section on the page that I feel like did not belong in an article labeled autonomous cars, it was called transport systems.  The reason why I do not believe it belonged is because it started talking about public transportation such as autonomous pods that could help people travel, but did not mention cars.

The article had some bias towards the fact that autonomous cars have a lot more advantages than disadvantages.  This is because there was a lot less material, and it seemed like a lot less thought put into the section labeled disadvantages.  There are also a couple of viewpoints that seem to be underrepresented. The reason for this could be that the article has not been updated in a while, and technology such as autonomous cars is changing so rapidly.  For example, there article has two whole sections that are geared towards the types of autonomous vehicles that are currently being produced and tested.  The only ones they speak about are Tesla Autopilot and Googles Self-Driving Car.  Today there are many more companies than these two that are working on creating self-driving vehicles such as Uber and Ford.

I checked a lot of the links and they seemed to work fine.  Most of the links didn’t seem like there would be any plagiarism issues if somebody ever completely fact checked the whole article.  The one thing that I did notice about the sources, is that I couldn’t really find any sources that were from recent times.  With technology, it’s important to have the most up to date information, because technology evolves rapidly.  Most of the articles that I saw were from 2013 to early 2016. By now, most of this information has probably changed.
