Rondish Company, Ltd. is an engineering firm that designs and manufactures security systems and monitoring products to aid in caring for elderly and infirm persons. The company employs around 25 people and is headquartered in Hong Kong.

History

Rondish was founded as a traditional security company in 1989 by two brothers, John and Steve Williams, and Rachel York. The first successful product was the Rottweiler(TM) anti-theft system for cars, which helped combat a wave of thefts in Hong Kong during the 1990's. These systems were so successful that insurance companies began requiring owners to have them installed before guarantying coverage. After Mainland Chinese officials broke up the syndicate of car thieves, Rondish came out with the Emergency Alarm System (EAS), which is now used by the Hong Kong Housing Authority for protecting elderly residents.

The EAS served as a turning point in Rondish's strategic direction. More recent products have focused on the health care sector than traditional security systems. Products to ensure the safety of patients who require the monitoring of a caregiver, such as bed monitors for fall prevention, nurse call systems, and anti-wandering systems are most popular at present. Management sees servicing the elderly care market as crucial to the future of the company.

Rondish Company holds a number of trademarks and patents, including the Rottweiler car security system, DoorWatcher anti-wandering system and Bed/Chair Watcher fall prevention systems.

Many Rondish employees are frequent participants in the annual Trailwalker hike over the years as a means of raising money for charity.

Markets

The United States currently accounts for the majority of Rondish business, though there are also distributors in, the UK, France, and Australia. Most products meet both FDA and CE certification requirements, and Rondish is actively seeking distributors in Eastern Europe, Latin America, and Japan.

A recent trend is the installation of large-scale systems in the Hong Kong and Singapore markets. The company would like to expand its reach by forming partnerships with systems engineers who can install Rondish equipment further abroad.

Current Products

Today, Rondish markets integrated communication systems for use in extended care facilities. These systems frequently include bed monitoring through the use of pressure pads, wireless bathroom alarms with pull cords, intercom systems, motion sensors, and door alarms that reach to patient/baby tags.
