Michaela Guzy is an award-winning documentary filmmaker,[1] travel journalist,[2] American media executive, producer, and on-air show host.[3]

She is the founder of the editorial content house, OhThePeopleYouMeet which she founded in 2012 after departing her corporate job as the VP/Global Travel and Strategic Development for American Express Publishing.[4]

Guzy was born in Missouri where she was raised before graduating from Spring Hill College and moving to New York City.[5]

Guzy’s travels to places such as Kenya and Morocco have been featured on Bravo TV,[6] Forbes,[7] and Highways magazine.[8]

Guzy served as an adjunct professor at New York University School of Professional Studies from 2017-2020, where she created and taught a course called, "Travel Storytelling: Creating Video Content".[9]

In her award winning series, “OH THE PEOPLE YOU MEET with Michaela Guzy”,[10][11] she curates the local hosts you are supposed to meet when traveling -- from local chefs, designers and artists, to her award winning film featuring Dr. Jane Goodall.[12] Her show has appeared on American Airlines In Flight, KTLA+[13] and Thrive Global. Seasons 1, 2 + 3 are currently in flight on Qatar Airways,[14] and Modern Luxury Media's streaming service M/LUX.[15]

In response to COVID-19 she launched a trending visual podcast called InspirationStation.[16] Each conversation is intended to cause us to ask questions, create dialogue and inspire us to connect on a human to human level on topics that impact bigger than themselves. There are currently over 125 episodes which has gained over 10 million views.[17]

In 2020, Michaela gave up her home in New York City and left to document the world reopening safely in a new video postcard series, SLEEPING AROUND SAFELY. As of May 2024, the series has over 105 episodes.[18] The series was also nominated for its first award at International Tourism Film Festival Africa in June 2024.[19]

Michaela has given speeches at travel industry conferences including World Travel Market (WTM) and International Luxury Travel Market (ILTM);[20] she taught a travel storytelling course at New York University School of Professional Studies from 2017 to 2020. She also appears as a sustainable travel and wellbeing expert on multiple morning shows[21] including CBS New York, Channel News Asia (CNA), ChekTV Vancouver, KLTA,[22] and more.
