Jack Prince Jack Prince was born John Upchurch in Shreveport, Louisiana on January 19, 1920. He was stationed in France in the US Army. A talented vocalist, Jack was in several bands after World War II and landed a recurring "appearance" on The Johnny Carson Show. Later he performed in Las Vegas and then in New York City, where he met and performed with Andy Griffith in the Broadway musical Destry Rides Again. When Andy Griffith was starring in his own television show, he invited Jack to appear in several episodes.
