wow

Didnt think you could to that to archives - scary! The whole javanese beliefs is dubious-looks like a kebatinan pinch/lift - dosnt really fit - and lack of what i'd call convincing refs either :) SatuSuro 11:24, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

I'm becoming quite good at archiving. lol. Yeah, that kebatinan page was scary. I had a few things to add to it, but got scared off. It's too much of a mess for my liking. Maybe Indon can re-write it. Merbabu 11:26, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
I might give it a try but too many obscure red link items for my liking as welll :) SatuSuro 13:14, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

Ping! my alarm was raised by the calling of my username. :-) Take a look at the newly expanded Nagarakretagama, and how lovely to read one paper describes that long and long time ago, Javanese people had combined two major religions into one god, one dharma. — Indon (reply) — 13:03, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

Yes, I've been watching - it's looking very good. I'd love to read and english translation of it. It comes up everywhere when studying Java.
You and I have very different editing styles. You tend to focus on one article all the way from stub to FA. Whereas I, am scattered all over the place. lol. Although, when I did try to be like you, I made Indonesian architecture and virtually re-wrote Indonesian National Revolution, the two things I am most proud of on wikipedia (although, half of U2 is a result of my re-writing efforts]]. Merbabu 13:08, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
Actually, I'm changing my style now. I download one interesting paper to read, and as long as I'm reading, I'm adding new facts from the article into Wikipedia articles. Yes, I am a citer. :-) Borobudur is still in the waiting phase, because I'm working with a map off-wiki. A detail map of Kedu Plain (ssstt..) — Indon (reply) — 13:11, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
Go-one you gotta show us - I have seen the real dutch maps of the kedu plain - it would be good to see! SatuSuro 13:14, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
I saw your earlier comments about creating cross-sections for Borobudur and wanted to scan the cross sections in my Borobudur book for you. Then I wanted to scan all of it! But my scanner is too small and I hate scanning - it's really big book with double page photos and diagrams. I did though scan some maps for the Indonesian REvolution. Maybe i can send them to you for incorporation in the article.Merbabu 13:17, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
I did make (and put it in the article) the (half) cross-sections of Borobudur. I think for the architecture section, they are enough. However, if you (or SatuSuro also) have some maps of Kedu Plain and the location of Borobudur, then please send me. — Indon (reply) — 13:23, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
The Prayer in Stone book is simply stunning. It's a shame it seems to be 100% unavailable (i've done web searches). is Soekmono still alive? Maybe his publisher is contactable. I can't remember when and where i got it - but i just remember being hesistant as it was my last day on a trip to Indonesia, I had run out of money but had too much baggage. Glad I got it though, cos I haven't been able to find it again on subsequent trips. Highly recommended to anyone with an interest. The photos still 'knock me out'. Merbabu 13:37, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

Islamic architecture - thoughts...

You are right - dominated by photos. On the other hand, architecture is a very visual subject so it is only natural. I suggest maybe shrinking some of the photos, and even creating a gallery at the end of the page for excess photos that are too good to remove. I used such a gallery on Indonesian architecture. (by the way, i hope to soon develop that article's section on historic mosques in Indonesia).Merbabu 13:17, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

Hi Merbabu. I was thinking about adding a gallery at the bottom of the article. The example of Indonesian architecture is a good one. -- FayssalF - Wiki me up ® 13:20, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

TfD nomination of Template:Campaignbox al-Qaeda attacks

Template:Campaignbox al-Qaeda attacks has been nominated for deletion. You are invited to comment on the discussion at the template's entry on the Templates for Deletion page. Thank you. --— Indon (reply) — 15:19, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

I think we should not modify the template, then we can point out how POV the template can be and how POV the editor is. I'm glad he added Phillipines as he gave more POV issues. — Indon (reply) — 08:33, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

Maluku and Maluku...

Oops, yes sorry - silly mistake - it was due to the fact that the link on the cartography page linked directly to Maluku, not the province, which in turn was also my mistake. Now fixed on the cartography page also.--Bwmodular 15:38, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

Do you want to nominate it for WP:DYK? — Indon (reply) — 15:59, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

Actually I don't really have Serrano's sources, only a couple of papers related to him. So I just put what it is said in the papers. Maybe you can add better facts about him. — Indon (reply) — 11:36, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

Hmm.. I don't know about that, if he even arrived to Banda. The only source said, that I read, is only he became acquainted with the Sultan of Ternate, and that is it. Anyway, if you feel that the article is already good enough to be lifted from stub, then you can nominate it for DYK. I found his Javanese wife, or became friends of Sultan, or being a cousin of Magellan, are the quirky thing to be put in the main page. — Indon (reply) — 11:45, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

Hehehe, right. Only then my source is actually not about him, but somebody/something else. — Indon (reply) — 11:51, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

U2 - Maintenance template and FA?

Hi there Merbabu. Just wanted to let you know that I added a maintenance template on the U2 talk page with my name. Feel free to add yours as well, as you are the only other consistent editor of this page. Also, I'm not going to nominate the article for FA status right now, but I would like to get your input as to what else needs to be fixed before we should try (or go for another peer-review). Thanks! Wikipedia brown 00:37, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

Cool, whenever you get a chance. I think we're fairly close now. The style/theme section needs a bit of work of course, but other than that, I think the article's in very good shape. Indon (reply) — 12:04, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

thank you

you perhaps have a resilience that i do not have. a lot of his insertions are original research, or extremely biased. he saves his version of the article and then incrementally reforms it to fit his, stretching out the edit history, when it's actually one big revert + inclusion of more original research, and/or a splaying of current material into nonsensical sects. the lead is a prime example. he moved the consensus version down and placed it under a new, barely intelligible sect heading, and restored his own unencyclopedic synthesis as the lead. this kind of editing is not acceptable. if he wants to introduce wholesale rewrites, they should be discussed first on the talk page. ITAQALLAH 23:48, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

Thanks Merbabu. I'll check the past history more closely. Cheers, --Aminz 02:39, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

Betcha he hasnt even found Islamophobia yet - his obvious condtion! SatuSuro 08:36, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

Hi, i think the argument for the inclusion of this link is self evident. Muhammad is an exemplar for the islamic faith, his buying, selling and capturing of slaves indicates the complete acceptance of slavery as an act a good muslim can do. What is the Sunnah if it is not the example of Muhammed recorded for all time. Hypnosadist 03:04, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

I respect your attempts at peace-keeping, while i have strong views on this subject long revert wars do not solve anything so i've tried to sit this out. Hypnosadist 03:18, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

Contentious area

Wow, you're now inside the contentious area and dealing with heavy POV pushers there. I myself was there, but it turned out that my energy would be exhausted because those hPOVs cannot deal with anything but to push that Islam is a bad religion, not to mention that I'm a moslem also. I salute to other moslem editors to have that kind of energy. Oh well, I'm just ranting on your talk page, please ignore this. :-) — Indon (reply) — 08:34, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

Actually, I am not a Muslim (given my efforts on the article, maybe that should be known) and I'm not even overly religious, i just hate persistent POV pushers. They should all get blogs rather than take advantage of wikipedia. I also suspect that like any contentious religious article there is at least a little POV on both sides. But yes, currently one is more blatant than the other. --Merbabu 11:20, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
I know you're not a Muslim, but that's why I salute you to do that. :-) — Indon (reply) — 11:31, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

He's maintaining that the legal status and position of child slaves is somehow different from slaves in general. So either Levy says that or he must have a source that does.DavidYork71 11:26, 17 March 2007 (UTC)

Indic v/s Dharmic

The correct classification of Religions is Abrahamic, Dharmic and Tao as given in Dharmic. So I changed Indic to Dharmic. Also I quite honestly disagree with the word Indic as it gives it a geographic meaning. It is like Islam was called Arabic or Christianity Israeli.
