User:Meikitsu

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Meikitsu is a Dutch Wikipedia user. The name 'Meikitsu' is derived from a Warcraft II cheat code: "Make it so". This, pronounced in what I hoped then was Cockney, gave something like "Meikitso" which sounded a bit like Japanese but obviously could be more Japanese-like by turning -o into -u. Thus, the name Meikitsu was born, a name which even today is unique on the internet, which came in handy during the IRC era, when I used to log in to open servers and where my older nicknames, such as MrBanana or even Fietslamp (Dutch for bicycle lamp) were often taken. Allegedly, Meikitsu is also the name of a Bulgarian breakfast cereal, but I have no confirmation of that information.

About me

[edit]

I am a student of French in The Netherlands, at the Radboud University Nijmegen. Which was named after a 9th century bisshop, to emphasize its catholic roots. Fortunately, Radboud was also a Frysian king in the 7th century who, above all, fought Christianity. Which shows that one should always be careful in choosing a name...

From January to June 2007 I am studying in Strasbourg, France. Main interests are France, languages and public transport.

International

[edit]

I am in the Dutch Wikipedia, as well as in the French Wikipédia. In the left column you can find links to my user pages in Dutch and French (although the French version is not that elaborate yet). My French account will mostly serve me to give some background information that others can then translate into proper French; my English is a bit better and I think I will be able to participate in the English Wikipedia more actively. But only time will tell.

The beginnings

[edit]

I started my life as a Wikipedia fan years ago, but it was in the early morning of 28 April 2007 that my active Wikipedia life started (in Dutch). My first contribution was adding new info to the Dutch article on the Strasbourg Tram, and my second, adding some information to the Dutch article on Kehl, near Strasbourg.
