John "Jackie" Knight Patriarch of the Knight family and a founder of Jones County, Mississippi. Jackie received a land grant after the war of 1812, which became most of Jones County. Jackie Knight was a slave owner, and his progeny of note include Newton Knight, who married the slave owned by his grandfather, Rachel.
