CTO Forum is an independent, non-profit organization based in Santa Clara, California. The aim of the organization is to create an environment where Fortune 500 Chief Technology Officers, Chief Information Officers, senior technology executives, and technology domain experts can convene to address problems industry faces.
The CTO Forum host 5 events per year. CTO Forum events are generally attended by approximately 100 technologists. Each event covers a contemporary technology topic, and results in a book of the same title as the event. Past event speakers include Andy Grove (co-founder of Intel), Dr. Stephen Schneider (Nobel Peace Prize winner), Andy Bechtolsheim (co-founder of Sun Microsystems), John Chambers (CEO of Cisco Systems), and Chris Kemp (Chief Technology Officer for IT at NASA).
The CTO Forum publishes books via a small independent press. These books are made free to prospective members and members only, and are not for sale.
Books currently available include:
- Health Care Transformation: Innovative Business Models and Next-Gen Technologies
- CIO Opportunities: Carbon-Downsizing, Enterprise Greening & Business Renewal
- Modeling California Carbon Trust: Challenges and Opportunities
- Cloud, Mobile & Social Computing: Modern Enterprise Opportunities
The books are compiled based on the findings made at CTO Forum events. CTO Forum offers membership based on certain criteria and applies a screening process to ensure that participants will be surrounded by peers of a similarly standing.
In addition to hosting 5 events per year, the CTO Forum hosts the CTO Institute, a diploma executive education program at Stanford University. No more than 70 executives are allowed to participate in the program. The program is taught by Stanford professors and executives from industry.
