Survivors of Torture, International ("SURVIVORS") is a torture treatment center based in San Diego, California. Its mission is to facilitate the healing of torture survivors and their families, educate professionals and the public about torture and its consequences, and advocate on behalf of torture survivors for the abolition of torture.
Beginning in 1997, SURVIVORS has served over 35,000 torture survivors emigrating from over 90 countries. The organization's location near the border in a region with an extensive refugee resettlement program allows SURVIVORS to work with a diverse demographic of clients. SURVIVORS primarily provides psychological, social, medical, and legal support services to torture survivors residing in San Diego and Imperial counties and reserves its services for individuals who have suffered from politically motivated torture perpetrated by government actors.
