Laurent Korcia is one of Europe’s most promising and varied Violinists. He studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris. After receiving a Premier Prix from the Conservatoire, he won the Paganini Competition in Genoa, a Grand Prix at the Jacques Thibaud Competition, the Premier Grand Prix at the international Zino Francescatti Competition and a scholarship from the young Concert Artists Trust in London. In 2002, he was awarded the prestigious Victoire de la musique as instrumental soloist of the year in France and was made Chevalier des Arts et Lettres. He also received the George Enesco Prize of the SACEM and the Grand Prix of the Academie Charles Cross. [1] He performs regularly with leading European orchestras, and has appeared under such conductors as Semyon Bychkov, Charles Dutoit, Daniele Gatti, Valery Gergiev, Emmanuel Krivine, Kurt Masur, John Nelson, Sakari Oramo, Michel Plasson, Manuel Rosenthal, Yutaka Sado, Michael Schoenwandt, Tugan Sokhiev, Vladimir Spivakov, Yan-Pascal Tortelier, and Walter Weller.


He is one of the rare contemporary violinists to give solo violin recitals, with programs ranging from Bach to contemporary music. He also performs regularly in jazz and pop venues. He taped a television special 13 and 14, 2008 at one of the most famous music venues in the world, Les Folies Bergere in the 9th arrondissement in Paris. The venue, which was built as an opera house in 1869 and patterned after the Alhambra music hall in London, was completely sold out. The television special will be featured on American Public Television and air around the world.

Laurent's CDs (Sony/BMG, Naïve and now EMI) are top of the chart sellers in France. His music has been used in movies, commercials and television programs. He was recently signed to a worldwide contract by EMI and his ‘Cinema’ album will be released in all major markets in early 2009.]Since 1999, Laurent Korcia has been playing on the Zahn Stradivarius (1719), a violin on loan by the prestigious French group LVMH, Moët-Hennessy-Louis Vuitton.
