Preface

[edit]

In this example, I (Mattdaviesfsic) would get an as-yet-undecided userbox. I may gain a couple in a year, because I do not consistently work in the AfC area, so in other months, other editors will get it. I might get the AfC barnstar if I got said userbox 3 times or something like that.

Although this table would be updated by bot (every couple of hours, perhaps) and then reset at the end of a month or something like that, the barnstars/userboxes would be handed out by a willing volunteer at the end of the month (probably going to end up being me...!), based on the data in the table.

Coding would need to count reviews done (before deletion, for rejections) by the time frames above, but make sure that declines do not score (as demonstrated above).

AfC announcement, May 2023

[edit]

Hey Mattdaviesfsic,

This is an announcement to all Articles for Creation reviewers and New Page Patrollers who now have automatic access to AfC.

From 1 June 2023, we are trialling a new initiative to keep the AfC backlog low. This operates in the same format as a backlog drive, but is intended to be more long-term.

Points will be updated on the leaderboard each month here, with a refresh each month. They will be time-based, to encourage reviews of the older drafts. Therefore:

  • Reviews for articles less than a week old will get one point;
  • Two points for articles between 8 days and 1 month/4 weeks (inclusive);
  • Three points for articles between 2 months/5 weeks and 3 months (inclusive);
  • Four points for articles over 4 months old.

At the end of each month, the user at the top of the leaderboard will receive this userbox:

971 pending submissionsThis user won the June 2023 WikiProject Articles for creation review award. You can help!

Receiving three of these userboxes (not necessarily in a row) will mean you then receive the Articles for Creation barnstar.

As it is a continuous backlog drive, in a sense, you don't need to sign up - you only need to review one article to be added to the leaderboard!

If you have any questions about the drive, please ask at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Articles for creation, or ask me personally at User talk:Mattdaviesfsic. For questions about the code, please ask User:Ingenuity. We would welcome all feedback at the end of the first month at the AfC talk page.

Good luck, and thank you for all that you do!
