Roy Fish Called as Interim Senior Pastor

[edit]

In the sudden absence of a senior pastor after Bruce Coe's sudden and unexpected departure, the Church called retired seminary professor and preacher Dr. Roy Fish. Dr. Fish previously taught at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and had several successful experiences as interim pastor at various churches. Dr. Fish took over the responsibilities of delivering the messages for the Saturday night and Sunday morning services. He served in the position for little over 18 months before being called to the North American Missions Board to serve as their interim president. Dr. Fish also was recognized by the Southwester Baptist Theological Seminary by naming it's The school of Evangelism and Missions after him.

Pastor Shupp accepted the position of senior pastor in October of 2006. He served for 6 1/2 years. Early on, he was instrumental in leading the church to settle a lawsuit against the city of Castle Hills over city ordinance disputes. During his tenure, the San Antonio extension of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth relocated to the church's campus. He led the church to launch many new ministries including: Celebrate Recovery, Manna Ministry (feeding the poor), and Christian Men's and Women's Job Corps. He also wrote a book entitled "One Blinding Vision" to help members grasp the new direction for the church. After serving faithfully, God called him to launch a new church in San Antonio called "The Movement Church of San Antonio."
