This is a timeline of modern Canadian and Quebec national identity building.
- 1925 - June 24, Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day, is made a public holiday in Quebec. The law receives royal assent on March 19.
- 1947 - The Canadian Citizenship Act, adopted by the Parliament of Canada in 1946, comes into effect on July 1, 1947. Canadian nationals are now legally recognized as Canadian citizens.
- 1948 - The Parliament of Quebec adopts a new flag for Quebec, the current fleurdelisé, in replacement of the Union Jack.
- 1949 - The practice of appealing the Supreme Court of Canada's decisions to the Privy Council in London is abolished.
- 1952 - Vincent Massey becomes the first Canadian to be appointed Governor General of Canada.
- 1965 - On on January 28, Queen Elizabeth II proclaims the new flag of Canada, the Maple Leaf flag.
- 1965 - The service d’immigration du Québec is created.
- 1967 - The Parliament of Canada enacts a law creating the Order of Canada.
- 1968 - The Legislative Council of Quebec is abolished and the Legislative Assembly of Quebec is renamed Assemblée nationale du Québec (National Assembly of Quebec).
- 1968 - The Quebec ministère de l'Immigration is created. (Loi sur l'immigration au Québec).
- 1975 - The National Assembly of Quebec adopts the Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms.
- 1977 - A ministerial decree of the Quebec government makes June 24, Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day, the national holiday of all Quebecers.
- 1977 - The National Assembly of Quebec adopts the Charter of the French Language.
- 1978 - Quebec begins selecting immigrants according to the policy of the ministère de l'immigration.
- 1982 - The Parliament of Canada patriates Canada's constitution.
- 1982 - The Dominion Day on July 1, established in 1879, becomes Canada Day on October 27.
- 1984 - The National Assembly of Quebec adopts the bill creating the National Order of Quebec.
- 1991 - The Canada-Quebec Accord is signed to allow Quebec some control over immigration.
- 1999 - The Prix québécois de la citoyenneté is created.
- 2001 - The États généraux sur la situation et l'avenir de la langue française setup by the Quebec government recommends the creation of a real Quebec citizenship.
