Early Life and Education

Erik Brandt Hubley grew up in Denver and Littleton, Colorado. Throughout his education, he played soccer and became an accomplished ice hockey player. Erik earned the rank of Eagle Scout, becoming a lifetime member of the National Eagle Scout Association.

In 1987, he moved to Virginia, where he attended Marshall High School. During his two years there, he played football and contributed to his team's success in winning district and state championships.

Interests

Erik enjoys outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, and fishing.

Martial Arts Career

Erik began his martial arts training in 1991 under Grandmaster Y. K. Kim at the American Taekwondo Federation. He has since progressed through the ranks, achieving various black belts and instructor certifications. Key milestones in his martial arts journey include:

  • 1996: 1st Dan to 2nd Dan Black Belt - Certified Instructor
  • 1998: Educational and Promotion Director at Martial Arts World - 3rd Dan to 4th Dan Black Belt
  • 1999: Certified Cardio Karate Instructor
  • 2001: Opened his own martial arts studio, Martial Arts of West End.
  • 2006: Received the Outstanding Contribution Award from Jeong, Byong Gook.
  • 2010: Achieved 6th Dan Black Belt and appointed as Vice President of Martial Arts World.
  • 2012: Awarded an International Doctor of Philosophy in Martial Science from the International University, San Diego, CA.
  • 2013: Completed personal training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Daniel Frank.

In the years that followed, Erik continued to advance in various martial arts disciplines, including Hapkido and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. His significant achievements include:

  • 2018: Recognized 6th Dan Black Belt from World Martial Arts United Professionals.
  • 2019: Gained 7th Dan Black Belt from World Martial Arts United Professionals and appointed to Master Councils.
  • 2023: Achieved 7th Dan Black Belt - Certified Master from The World Taekwondo Ji Do Kwan Federation and earned an International Master Certificate.

Recent Achievements

In 2024, Erik attained a 4th Dan Black Belt with the World Hapkido Martial Arts Federation and received Master Instructor Certification.
