MARTIN JORDAN is from Newry, Northern Ireland. He has lived in London and the North of England. He was a former promotions assistant and completed work for Rowntree Mackintosh, Bass, Curry's, and Choice Hotels; he auditioned for TS Elliott's Cats at Blackpool Opera House and Starlight Express following singing and elocution training with basic notation in London. Jordan also entered dozens of talent shows but got nowhere. Whilst all the other part time waiters headed off to Los Angeles to try for acting jobs I considered studying acting professionally, which involved more Shakespeare and literature. Acting is a very competitive profession.
Due to tuition costs he was unable to study drama at Italia Conti School of Theatre, he opted for a 4 years Honours Degree in Commerce 2.1 UUJ then professional bookkeeping IAB courses and QTS tests. A member of several amateur dramatic groups and former model.Jordan is also a keen writer and is currently working on a collection of short stories. Jordan also has a Degree in Hotel, Catering and Institutional Management with industrial placements undertaken in luxury Hotels. At the Executive Management Residential School I got to meet some of the country's top entrepreneurs, one who sadly passed away a few years ago. One of my essays was actually published I have yet to find out where! Jordan was also offered a place at QUB to study International Business but a period of ill health shelved this project; like private Drama Colleges tuition fees are expensive, having churned out dozens of essays I thought it was time for a break.
I have recently taken up guitar and notation again because of my love of harmonies and music and because I have always had an interest. I have also worked as a light DJ and DJ. I had several screen tests and in 1989 was auditioned at BBC Belfast for a television presenter, screen and vocal test. My greatest regret is not trying harder to get an Equity card. Jordan Also featured in a Hilton Hotel training film and was offered an audition on Cilla Black's Blind Date show during a meeting in London.
When I was young I held discos in my back yard much to the amusement of my neighbours. I have sung John Lennon's Yesterday for literally hundreds including former work colleagues. Jordan is still available for DJ work and a recent trip to the big apple has regenerated my creative side. I wish I was able to do something, the truth is virtually everyone can, I think.
