Both teams fought a very defensive game that went down to the last minute, with the Wake Forest Demon Deacons defeating the Navy Midshipmen by a final of 13-10. After a scoreless first quarter the Midshipmen struck first in 23 minutes into the game with a 37 yard field goal by Matt Harmon. A field goal for the Deacons by Sam Swank and a 43 yard touchdown catch by Chip Brinkman on a hail mary at the end of the first half made it a 10-3 halftime lead. The score remained the same for over an hour. When someone finally did score, it was a game-tying score for the game's leading rusher in terms of yards, Navy's Bobby Doyle. He had 79 yards off of only 7 carries, and the last was a 45 yard scamper that tied it with a little under four minutes to go. Wake quarterback Riley Skinner lead the game-winning drive, but the key play was the one-handed catch by Wake running back Josh Adams. The catch went for 39 yards and brought the Deacons to the Midshipmen 33 yard line. A 3 yard pass to DJ Boldin and two runs by Adams that went for 6 and 11 yards brought them into field goal range, where they kicked the game-winning field goal, courtesy of Sam Swank, from 33 yards out. The Midshipmen could only bring the ball to their own 25 on the kickoff, and a deep incompletion ended the game with Wake Forest defeating Navy by a score of 13-10. Game MVP Riley Skinner threw for 171 yards and a touchdown, and running back Josh Adams had 66 rushing and 49 receiving yards en route to the victory.
