Ernest Wiehe was a Mauritian saxophonist, pianist, composer, arranger, architect, and painter. He was widely considered to be one of the pioneers of jazz music in Mauritius. He began his career in Boston, MA, USA where he taught composition and arrangement at Berklee College of Music from 1973 to 1978 and founded the Boston Jazz Orchestra in DATE. Upon return to his native island Mauritius in 1978, he devoted his life to creating a space for jazz, supporting young aspiring musicians, teaching, and architecture. In 2002, he released his first album, Didn't Say which features several of his compositions.
